Robert Lewandowski + Liverpool Scaled Through.

No one dominates the Champions League better than this guy; Robert Lewandowski. He is a legend of the game and has earned that right. This is, of course, my opinion and I believe with his exploits in this competition, I know many would agree with me as well. He is a classic complete number 9 and Bayern Munich would be happy to have someone as clinical as he is within their ranks.

He has the same never give up mentality just like Ronaldo. He is stylish, classy, resilient, clinical and knows when to deliver. One thing I've come to admire about him is that he plays with the team and for the team. He isn't the kind of striker that waits for others to get the ball and give it to him. He would happily and readily get involved in gameplay and bring others into play. His assist for Leroy Sane in the Champions League encounter with Salzburg says a lot about him.

He is in devastating form and if Bayern Munich would go further in the Champions League, they would need him to stay off injury because he is the kind of player that you can't predict as he would always spring up surprises when the chips are down.

I was expecting Bayern Munich to win against Salzburg but not with that kind of scoreline. With the way Salzburg played the first leg, I would expect more fight but this is Bayern Munich and they outclassed Salzburg even though Salzburg wasted a few chances of their own.

Robert Lewandowski grabbed his hat-trick; 2 from the penalty spot and one from his resilience to chase down the ball and he got the reward for it. Thomas Muller got 2 goals as well and Muller is another kind of player most people don't pay attention to but can be devastating. Leroy Sane and Serge Gnabry both grabbed a goal each. Maurits Kjaergaard got a consolation for Salzburg as the game ended 7-1 and 8-2 on aggregate.

Liverpool managed to weather the storm against Inter Milan. They held a 2-0 advantage from the first leg but lost the second leg by a solitary goal due to Martinez's goal for Inter Milan. Alexis Sanchez got his marching orders too as Liverpool finished this round with a 2-1 aggregate scoreline.

Both teams did everything to break the deadlock but it wasn't to be and Matip came close for Liverpool only for him to hit the crossbar with his header. Liverpool also has Alisson to thank after he responded quickly to a free kick taken at the edge of the box after Robertson fouled Dumfries. If Inter Milan had scored that goal, it would have been easier for them to snatch a draw if not win the game.

Both teams had their chances. Salah also struck the base of the post and Martinez flashed his effort wide inside the box when he should have scored. It was a tightly contested match and I knew it would take a moment of brilliance to break it and that's what Martinez did. His strike found the top corner of the net and Alisson couldn't have done anything about it. What a hit that was and it was deserving of the lead and the win even though it wasn't enough to get Inter Milan into the next round.

The red card for Alexis Sanchez affected Inter Milan and they dropped off since they were a man down. It wasn't Liverpool's day as they kept hitting the post when they should be scoring. Salah was the culprit and it looked like he forgot his shooting boots at home. On a normal day, if they were playing with a more clinical opponent, Salah wouldn't love himself for missing such chances and he got off this time. He was just unlucky because he did everything right.

Congratulations to Bayern Munich and Liverpool for getting to the next round.

Cheers.
