Can Paris Ever Win The UCL?

I know in football you can never say never but this Paris side has come close too many times and they just don't have that extra to nudge them ahead. You would think their disappointments of seasons past would have formed a good basis of experience for them but still, they keep getting worse and losing concentration when it mattered the most.

The game that would never let me rate this PSG side ever again was when they surrendered a healthy advantage against Barcelona and they got dumped out. I've never seen a team collapse on the verge of victory so often as this PSG side. Of course, a time would come for them to win this prestigious trophy but I don't think this current crop of PSG players can ever win it. They lacked the determination, the hunger, the focus and the extra bite to win it.

Lionel Messi was added to their ranks to be able to get them over the finishing line but a lot of people need to realize that Lionel Messi isn't as young as everyone thought he was. Age is telling on him and there is little to what he can do as we have seen his struggles this season in PSG shirt. The same goes for Cristiano Ronaldo and they have to reduce the expectations they have on these phenomenal players. Yes, they can do a lot unexpectedly but not the way most people would expect.

The future of Mbappe would be up in the air again. He would have loved to win it and end his tenure with PSG on a high but if for anything, this would fuel his determination to leave PSG in search of more recognition elsewhere. Let's face it, even me, I am beginning to doubt that this PSG side can ever win the UEFA Champions League ever since their collapse against Barcelona. They even faltered against Manchester United. Every time they move close, they just ruin their chances with a lack of concentration.

Mauricio Pochettino would surely know that his position as the head coach of PSG would be questioned. He was asked to get them the most coveted trophy but he looked bereft of ideas sometimes as they are struggling which you wouldn't expect if you looked at the abundance of talents they possess.

They were so close to knocking Real Madrid out of the competition and Mbappe did his job and got them to a flying start only for Karim Benzema to turn the game on its head and dent PSG's hope. Benzema didn't only dump them out of the competition, he reminded PSG of their past disappointments and this would stick again in their memory till another season.

It's hard to take this PSG side serious and maybe, just maybe if they get a better coach, they might but they once had Ancellotti and still didn't win the trophy. Could they be cursed as De Gea said Manchester United is cursed? PSG's form in the Champions League calls for attention and it's always the case of "Oh, so near" for them no matter the number of stars they bring into the team. We have to wait and see when PSG would finally win the trophy.

Congratulations to Real Madrid who made their experience count by turning the game around to win 3-1 and 3-2 on aggregate ageing the Parisians
