My Actifit Report Card: February 3 2024
Finally, I got my China Visa, and I could cross the border and go to mainland China.
I’m sightseeing in Shenzhen. My last visit to this city was a few years ago, and I have noticed that many things have changed; for example, there are more electric bikes than regular bikes.
Also, I have seen that every payment is electronic; I’m the only one who brings cash. WeChat is the most popular app for payment and social media, and the second one is Alipay, but the second one is used just for payments. To have one account, you must have a Chinese mobile phone number, and to activate the payment, you must have a verification process where you need to scan your ID card or passport, take a selfie, input your home address and finally wait for the system approval and you will get reply for your application; once done it you could add money in some stores(7eleven, Circle K); or you could link it with your saving account.
It’s very convenient to use these apps here because you can transfer money from one user to another without a service charge or pay in shopping centres, restaurants, or even on the street foods; this way of payment is more secure because you are not using the physical device as banks cards or credit cards; and you may know that China has a famous firewall called the Great Wall, and it is tough your information could be leaked to third party companies as happen with banks accounts.
When you cross the border from Hong Kong to mainland China, you will notice the price difference for almost everything, including food, transportation, etc.
I know many people cross the border on weekends because they go to Shencome to eat buffets, especially seafood. After all, seafood is highly preferred by Hong Kong people, even by some foreigners.
