FA Cup: The best team ended up with the glory.

Liverpool is currently the best club in the English Premier League this season, forget the fact that they are behind Manchester City. If the first and second would need to play a final to win the league, I wouldn’t hesitate to put my stake on Liverpool because they have proven themselves so many times this season and last clearly showed their dominance over the top 6 clubs in the Premier League this season.

Getting past Manchester City into the FA Cup final wasn’t an easy job but they did it and went on to make the final a remarkable one as Liverpool broke the FA Cup drought, Jürgen Klopp must be a happy man for the success since he took up Liverpool managerial role. He won everything and he would be remembered as one of the Liverpool managers, he will further wear the best manager crown in Europe if he eventually defeats Real Madrid in the final of the UEFA Champions League.

Chelsea and Liverpool have met in two cups final this season and both matches ended the same way, the winner last night had to be decided after a penalty shootout just like the Carabao cup final back in February. I was so confident about Liverpool but the moment the 120 minutes of action finished, I doubted if they would win because the team looked tired.

They have played the most game this season and ended in all finals, that should tell how much the team is exhausted during the encounter but they went on to get glory at the end of the day.
Salah had to leave the field in the first half of the match, Van Dijk had to leave as well due to an injury threat which could be a huge problem for them against Liverpool in the champions league final. Jota wasn’t a bad replacement for Salah even though he threw away the chance to win the match before the penalty shootout, Chelsea did lose a few chances as well and I must commend both teams for playing great games.

Unlike the Carabao cup final where every player scored except Chelsea goalkeeper in the shootout, Azpilicueta lost Chelsea second penalty kick. Liverpool went on to win until their fifth penalty which was played into the hands of Mendy by Sadio Mane, the teams were equal again but Mason Mount couldn’t handle the pressure and ended up losing his turn. It ended the same way it happened at the Wembley Stadium back in February.

The Chelsea squad would be disappointed they lost to one opponent twice in the 2021/22 Cup finals, the Blues officially ended their season without a trophy.

Just one season of disappointment is not enough to judge the veteran manager, I believe the club will bounce back stronger in the coming season.

We expected more from the club and the issue of transferring club ownership must have contributed to the team ending the season with much disappointment but the good thing is that the next season is there to right their wrongs and prove to their fans that they are worthy to wear the club badge. It was a double for Liverpool and I hope they get their third on the 25th of May in Paris.
