Deep contemplation...and fucken cheesecake

1000021456.jpg

The ultimate value of life depends upon awareness and the power of contemplation rather than upon mere survival.

Pass me the blueberry cheesecake and coffee.

- galenkp -

There's a time for deep contemplation and reflection, to delve within oneself on a journey of discovery to capture what's lays beneath the surface and bring it to into the light to be weighed and measured, picked apart, considered and reconstructed in better ways and sometimes even discarded altogether. It can be difficult to see those things when living life at the rapid, often frenetic, pace society dictates nowadays but contemplation of that kind has immeasurable value.

And...sometimes one just needs to eat some fucken cake and drink coffee.

I'd just finished work, one of those very productive but complicated days that one is generally happy with but also glad to see the end of.

It was a self-inflicted work day meaning I went there on my own accord and because there was no one else around I got a lot done. I'm happy with it, although there was a photocopier incident that brought me (almost) to the brink of great violence (against the photocopier) but it finally did what I was telling it to and so that copier avoided a painful and messy death, for now. I was so pleased with the day I decided to find a little gap in time to celebrate it by way of a coffee and my favourite blueberry cheesecake at a cafe I frequent...well, frequently.

It was legit cheesecake as always.

I've always had the ability to detach, find a gap no matter how small, and to separate myself from whatever is happening which has been critical to my success and progression; it makes me more focused, efficient and effective.

The detachment itself is about resetting myself, standing apart from the moment for a time and into a space in between where I can think more clearly and objectively or draw a line beneath something before moving on; it's a pause as such and that's what my cake and coffee was all about and it allowed me to go home with a nice feeling of being the non-work me rather than simply a nice feeling of a day at work and residual thoughts of work. Maybe I'm not making sense here, but I guess I'm trying to say that putting a little space between my work day and going home, or the immediacy of a situation I'm in, helps me be better, calmer, more objective and lateral thinking or simply just more relaxed...it's a buffer between the frenetic nature of the moment and I emerge more centred.

Or...well I suppose if I'm honest it might just have been a decent excuse to eat some fucken cake and drink a legit coffee.

Do you ever seek a detachment from the moments or situations you're in and if you do how do you manage it? If not why not, and do you think the detachment process might help you operate more efficiently and effectively? Comment if you'd like to.

I don't think I could operate any more efficiently and effectively but I tend to punctuate everything with coffee!

Drop the cheese and just stick with the cake part.

I am partial to a jammy fairy cake with my coffee. Here's some I made yesterday.

It's such a great way to draw a line under work and move on it to think things through for better ways forward.

Hello again, Galen. In my case, in addition to the stress that accumulates, it has repercussions on the resolution of tasks, a situation of continuous stress ends up disorganizing me. So I usually stop from time to time and look from the outside. There are many techniques, I resort to the so-called grounding, I pay attention to details of the moment: smells, tastes, sensations,..., and from time to time I resort to travel.

I thought you might have some methods to achieve a detachment of sorts and that you'd know the value of doing so.

It is possible that the translator has made a mistranslation of your publication, and misunderstood it, or has made a mistranslation of my answer.

Returning to the subject, I am looking for those spaces that you point out, of detachment. Sometimes they are long moments, my last trip was not touristy, I needed to stop and think. At other times it is possible to create them and get out of the automatisms.

Going to a new location can work really well to find some detachment and some moments to contemplate, it's probably a little more difficult to do all the time but it's a nice way to get it done huh?

I think so. At least it works for me 😊.

Many times the stress of everyday life is not easy, especially when we focus on a single thing, I'm not saying that the focus is bad but it doesn't hurt to detach ourselves for a while, distract ourselves a little, I often do it when things don't work for me. They are giving the way I want them, I go out for a drink, as they say here, some social drinks, in the company of friends, and then return, with more energy and with another perspective.

Focus is great but it's near impossible to stay strongly focused for lengthy periods which is why a little detail hment now and then works so well. A social drink is a good way to do it and there's others besides.

That's right friend, the important thing is to return again with recharged energies.

The cheesecake... it looks delicious! That's first!

Then... the process of detachment for me has been difficult, at least years ago, I would come home and it was like work was following me. I had to learn and make a big effort and as I say find an anchor that produces that break between work and home. One of those anchors is walking a bit before coming home and the other one is my cats. They free me, it's incredible.

Walking is a good way but I tend to think too much sometines so walking doesn't help. Hiking does though, strenuous activity.

I love hiking, there is nothing else that exists at that very moment, it takes me away from everything and everyone!

Aristotle usually had it right but in this case I will go with the G-Dawg!!

Pass me the blueberry cheesecake and coffee

I know right? In this case Aristotle was way off base although, in his defence, I'm not sure they had cheesecake back in ye olden times.

That might explain why they were so salty back then!

Yeah, eating stale bread and sour goats milk every day would salt up one's vag quite quickly.

And a salted vag is not to be taken lightly!

We have Warning signs here in Australia, literally everywhere.

Warning: Salty vag in the proximity, approach with caution.

The smart ones heed the warning.

I have heard of this, they quite like hiding under the bush and can pounce without warning. Hell mend those who don't exercise the caution!!

They lay in wait and pounce when one least expects it; quite unsettling for the unwary.

How in thee fuck did we go from Blueberry Cheesecake to Salty Vag.!?😳

Often. It happens to me that sometimes I get entangled with a problem so much that it seems to me that "there is no light at the end of the tunnel". I then log out of the computer, if I'm doing something with a tool, I take it apart, if I'm doing some physically demanding work, I take a shower, change my clothes...
So I drink coffee, eat some sweets, get a little sleepy and take a short nap (depending on where I am and what I'm doing), then after restarting I take on the same challenge again. And mostly I solve it.

That detachment makes you more effective; when writing this post I thought I'd you and expected that you'd have some sort of method to find a greater level of focus and effectiveness. It's an important part of life and should be for everyone.

I usually have a couple of projects going on at once, so I can move from one to the other when I need a break from one. I love going into work when there is no one else around. It's just a totally different feeling and I think I am more productive then.

It's more productive sometimes when there's no one around, less distractions and noise and that focused time can really work to one's advantage.

Today stress is the order of the day, I in particular try to distract myself, I go to a friend's house, we have tea and talk about everything, we laugh and the topic that originated this state of mind is not touched. Well who says a tea can be a coffee because I also like it and if we accompany it with some chocolate cookies, bye-bye stress.
Greetings @galenkp nice Sunday.🤗🥰
