Let's travel together #329 - Berengo Collection Venice
After a long and exhausting day in Venice when we already visited everything on our list, we were slowly heading to the train station thinking that we could call it a day and head back to Treviso, where we had our accommodation.
As things always happen for a reason, the GPS was acting a bit weird and was taking us on a different route than the one we followed on the way to San Marco Piazza, hence why, while checking out the surroundings we observed this fancy-looking place that seemed rather like a market at first.
The minimalist sign hung in the window mentioned Berengo Collection which instantly stirred my curiosity even more, to enter and see what everything is about.
I've never been a fan of exhibitions or collections although I loved art since a kid. But somehow I find these two very subjective and that you really need a full background in these domains to appreciate the exhibits at their real value, which was obviously not my case.
Even if the best was yet to come, I was still surprised by the very few exhibits placed at the entrance to the building.
The jellyfish was the least interesting part for me not because I didn't find it cool but because in Murano you will see plenty of these, under more shapes and colours. So let's say I was already seeing a few dozen before seeing this one.
However, the transparent bull quickly became one of my favourites. All the details and the way the glass was worked with to bring it to these results was absolutely fascinating.
Not even the sugar canes that I was tempted to think were some painted wood, did not stay away, as they were also made of the specific Murano glass that makes Venice so popular when it comes to getting a one-of-a-kind souvenir or gift for your house.
The next and main room of the building comes with a lot more exhibits. More shapes, more stories and more colours. There are also some paintings here and there that stir curiosity too, but Murano Glass is the main star of Venice for sure.
In fact, the actual Berengo Collection can be found on Murano Island, but with the passage of time and seeing how many people are interested in these, they brought more studious and collections in more parts of Italy but also on the globe. One of them, is obvious, the studio from Venice which is the one from my post.
The studio's origins start in 1989 by Adriano Berengo who set out to forge unique art made with glass by testing the boundaries of contemporary glass-making with his inventive approach.
The next and last room comes with lots of framed paintings, minimalist pieces of art, but also a large book with even more awesomeness.
I am not sure if this is part of the collection forever or belongs to some sort of temporary exhibition because I wasn't able to find any information about it when doing my research for the collection, but it was not less impressive and ended up spending a good time of my visit checking out each of these.
The full address of the Berengo Collection is Sestiere di S. Marco, 412, 30124 Venezia VE, Italy and it's just 1km away from the Venice Train Station. This one is located near the San Marco Piazza, so if you are making your way towards that direction, most likely you will pass by the collection too, as we did.
Other places I've seen during my trip in Venice:
- Rialto Bridge
- Narrow Streets And Hidden Cannals Of Venezia
- Shop Windows of Venice
- Palazzo Contarini del Bovolo
- Constitution Bridge
- Chiesa di San Silvestro
- Chiesa di San Moisè
- Berengo Collection Venice

While I was in Venice, I spotted a few places like this but I was a little apprehensive about going in haha. What an incredible bull, it's amazing how they achieved the folds. Those artists are masters working the glass, just wonderful.
I feel you! Both my parents and my sister felt the same but my curiosity pushed me inside and when my sister saw the excitement on my face she went inside right after! No regrets haha
