Trading Carr for Jimmy G is absurd.
It's a little odd that I care about this since I'm not a Raiders fan; but, there are even some analysts that I somewhat respect who are still talking about opportunities for the Raiders to move on from Derek Carr even to the point of arguing that they should look into trading for Jimmy Garoppolo.
I mean, I'm not a Jimmy G hater and I also don't think that Derek Carr is ever gonna be on the level of a Josh Allen; but, I think it's rather absurd to regard Jimmy G as a clear opportunity to upgrade over Carr.
They're both underrated quarterbacks; but, Carr seems to be much more underrated. Yes, Jimmy G has played in a Super Bowl and took the 49ers to an NFC Championship appearance last year; but, he's always had a support system and, as a starter, he's always had an offensive mastermind at head coach.
The Raiders may have been one and done in the playoffs last season; but, it's a miracle that they even made the playoffs last season and Carr is one of the main reasons why they made it.
In one year the Raiders' head coach was fired mid-season because somebody dug up some racially insensitive and sexist emails. Most teams don't make the playoffs with an interim head coach. Henry Ruggs got drunk and killed a woman just as he was starting to spark and their first round corner got released after flashing a gun and threatening a dude over Instagram. Through all that Carr handled himself perfectly and continued to play at a high level.
With the addition of Adams to a list of weapons that already included Waller and Renfrow, I think that the Raiders are ready to be a damn scary team with Derek Carr at quarterback.
