Wrestling Tournament - Saturday

The flag unrolled from the ceiling for the pledge then R and I headed to the pairing room to wait for him to get paired for his first match. We waited for nearly a half an hour when he had to go to the bathroom. While I waited for him to finish @stryeyz texted me that they had a major malfunction of the pairing for the 5/6 year olds, they lost the entire thing when the computer crashed. They had to rebuild the entire seeding so they started with the 7/8 year olds and got them all paired.

J's first match was against a girl who was about the same size as him and he ended up loosing the match on points.

R got to go to pairing with the mass of other kids in his age group and got paired with a girl a bit smaller than him. He won the match fairly quickly with a pin.

J's next match was against another girl who this time was a bit smaller than him who he ended up pinning to win the match.

R's second match was against a kid the same size as him but who had a good bit better technique than him. R got a bit stressed with the pressure around his neck towards the end of the match and lost by pin.

Both boys were 1-1 at this point and J went in for his next pairing.

This match was a bit of a cluster. The scoring team had a serious amount of trouble keeping track of the points and there was a long wait wile they got it sorted out. Finally after an extra few minutes of match time J won by one point.

R's last match was against a kid a bit taller than him and they did a lot of pushing around the mat. In the end R lost on points and was done for the day.

J's last match was going for 3rd place and the kid he wrestled was a good bit better than him. We are pretty sure it is his at least second year of wrestling compared to J's first year. J got rather upset at coming in 4th AGAIN, but we tried to help him remember that he is doing really well for his first year.

It was a crazy ass day and I spent so much time not sitting on the bleachers. I had brought a good amount of food for the boys but had neglected food for myself. All the focus on the boys, getting them back and forth from pairing, the emotion dump of cheering both boys on, and a lack of calories had me super run down by the time we left.

One more tournament this next weekend and the wrestling season will be done for the boys. Once we are done with wrestling we will go back to cub scouts again.
