PreDawn Grain Run, Shoveling, PDC, Holder, Boxing, Greenhouse, Fire, Grilling, Kraken Crash - Friday

Mostly vacant roads super early yesterday morning made the trip into town fairly mellow and on the faster side. It's been about 20F these mornings but the roads have been nice and dry thanks to the mid day warming. I first had to stop at the Steam Plant to drop off empty barrels.

This time one of the homeless under the overpass had a camping chair setup which is super rare to see, mostly it's a pile of fabric atop cardboard against the wall. I hucked the barrels over the fence then headed north to the other brewery.

4 1/3 barrels were waiting for me and soon I was shoveling them out into the bed liner on the trailer.

It only took about 10 minutes to get them all emptied and soon the trailer was piled high with grain.

Daylight savings is soon as can be seen in the earlier dawn light. But then it will get ruined with the time change tomorrow.

IMG_20240308_051706.jpg

I had to stop for gas on the way home which of course has not gone down in price any.

I took the boys to school and when I parked the truck and trailer after I noticed the icicles that had formed from the runoff from the grain.

I managed to figure out a place to spread the grain. I chose the hill along the road to coat as a means of weed control and to build to soil over time. I'd like to be able to plant bushes or trees but the soil is atrocious. The load of grain ended up covering about 50 feet of length of the hill. It will also be a place for the deer to munch the grain.

The last bits in the bed liner got dumped out in the pole garden where the birds all piled onto the small amount of grain. Instead of crossing the creek they spent all day at this tiny pile... bird brains...

Midday the Belgian darts open continued with some good matches. Luke won his match but it was close, then Barney threw the game away and lost to James Wade.

With more darts arriving soon we needed a new holder for the sets. I found a 2x4 and marked out 6 sets of holes then drilled them.

IMG_20240308_160504.jpg

This now gives more room for each set and space for 6 sets. I have it attached to the wood shelf with a single screw but it holds it nice and solid.

Got a bit of throwing time in and got damn close to sinking all 3 in the smallest practice ring.

That made me remember why I hate boxing. 12 rounds is just stupid and all they can do is swing fists. I SO MUCH more like UFC and MMA over boxing. The Joshua Ngannou fight was on, finally and what a shit show. Joshua put such a fast beat down on Francis is was just silly to watch. Knocked him straight out cold. You could see it in Ngannou's eyes when he stepped in the ring.

I stopped in to check on the greenhouse and it looked like the DE had helped as there didn't seem to be more damage.

The radishes are looking good but not yet swelling.

It was around 5pm when I got the fire going in the pit for the evening. It took a bit to get it fully engulfed but extra cardboard always does the trick.

IMG_20240308_171001.jpg

It was a bit late but I got the burgers on to grill once the fire had enough coals for me to move around.

Who doesn't love toasty buns?

IMG_20240308_185756.jpg

We got out to soak at the normal time and I managed an hour before my skin bitched at me. The Kraken were playing and managed to get through 2 periods before shitting the bed and losing 3-0.

Today is R's first wrestling tournament, Man Utd is playing right now so I get to see them hopefully win, this afternoon UFC 299 is on which should be a good one with a solid card, I'll build a fire in the evening then will grill again for dinner.

Those buns are looking tasty from here already. I’m sure they must be even tastier when eaten with the mouth and not the eyes😊.

Aj didn’t have even a slight fear in him like when he does with other opponents. I guess Francis still got a lot to learn from someone like AJ when it comes to getting inside the boxing ring. Francis is used to the ufc so it’s no doubt that he’s going to need some time and practice to learn the art of boxing. If he doesn’t then I’m guessing the fight with Tyson is just a bluff to make him seem like a great fighter to the audience.
