Grain Run, Track Meet, Reseeding, Volunteers - Wednesday
Yesterday morning I was up really early and out of the house in the twilight to go get grain. I had 3 barrels to pickup then a bunch of empties to drop at the other brewery. I got home and parked the truck for the morning until we got home from the track meet.
Meet might be a bit strong of a term as it was just all the 3rd grade classes together on the high school track. All the kids went out for a little warmup before the running began.
J got put into the 100m run and he is third from the left.
He did well in his race and got 2nd.
They then had the final run with the 1st - 3rd place from the 2 boys runs.
The other kids were pretty fast but J did good and ran as hard as he could.
J had his heart set on running the 400 but it seems that he got put in the 100 against his wishes and they were only allowed to run one race. He got seriously pissed and was in a major funk for a while. It took a bit for him to work his way out of it and he finally perked up before the field events. He went with the javelin which was a bit funky to throw right.
Last was the 4x100 relay which our class summarily lost due to a shoe coming off the first runner. They still did great and all the kids seemed to have a good time, even aside from J's frustration.
Once back home I jumped in the truck and drove to our friend's house across the valley where I dumped the grain barrels for them. I only remembered a pic once home.
Then around noon I went up to the melon garden whee I had to reseed more than half the spots. hopefully I have enough time for everything to grow and produce.
I have volunteer tomatoes coming up all over again this year and I now have nowhere to put them. I found a dozen in my looking and now I have to figure out where to put them around the farm.
Soaking my sore muscles was nice and helped a good bit though I am still pretty sore this morning.
I am going flying this morning again as the winds are still good at Saltese so I hope to get 2 flights if possible. Means I will be hiking up again but it is worth it for the flight time.

J be running..
He is likely to have the situation I had. I was not the fastest in my elementary class until 8th grade where I got my running legs and blew past everyone else. Then I ran cross country all 4 years of high school.
