Grain Pickup and Dump, Cleaning, Wrestling Practice

avatar

Another absurdly early morning yesterday as I was out the door before 5am on my way to town to pickup grain. My first stop was to drop off empties so I would have room to load the full barrels. It must be long enough after the holidays that they aren't turning the steam plant stack lighting on which I rather like working beneath.

Next was a run up the road to the other brewery where I loaded up 5 barrels of grain, 1 in the truck and 4 on the trailer. I probably could have squeezed the fifth barrel into the top of the four but it was just as easy to haul the fifth with.

On my way up the bypass and the long stream of headlights filled the southbound lanes while I was alone heading north. My favorite kind of driving, the kind with zero traffic.

I was home before 6am which is doing pretty well.

The welcome glow of the morning light to the east is getting brighter every morning.

J got to school and after R was awake I headed out and dumped the barrels of grain to the animals who were rather impatient.

The birds were clamoring around the grain before I had the second barrel emptied.

Mid day was spent cleaning in the house more. The living room floor is now largely cleaned and the boys have VERY slowly been getting their things picked up and organized.

I spent half an hour on my mandolin and I am discovering the need to warm up my left hand. I started banging away with rapid note changes and my fingers stated to feel the strain starting cold.

I had dinner ready just in time for us to eat before heading out to practice. Both boys are seeming good and comfortable in the environment now and J is being a bit more outgoing and finding other kids to work with aside from his classmates.

It was the shorter of the practices for the week so a lot gets packed in. The large part of the work for the night was on the double leg take down and the double to bear hug take down.

R ended up with A, the distracting kid, and they got a few rounds of help from the older kids and the coaches. With the directed coaching it helped both R and A to be less distracted and more focused on the actual act of wrestling.

Both J and R with their partners on the mat. I'm pretty happy with how they are both progressing.

I love this shot of R getting some one on one with a high school kid near the end of practice.

For the end they played a game of touch the laces where they had to keep the laces of their shoes from getting touched by anyone else. I noticed J get a bit upset after the first round but I think because it went so fast that he didn't quite understand what was going on. He was better for the second round.

We got their shirts and shorts for warmups over their singlets and also got R's singlet.

We all soaked before bed. I had to get out early as my skin was feeling itchy from the wonky levels in the tub. I adjusted this morning so hopefully it will be better. I may need to change out a good bit of the water and I need to clean the filter.

No school for the boys as they have a four day weekend. I am ordering my welder today, practice on mandolin, I will be grilling again tonight as a kinda make up birthday since @stryeyz wasn't here for mine last Friday, we have Azure order to pickup this evening, I have to clean the spa filter and dilute the water with fresh as the cyanuric acid levels are getting too high.

Sure a busy day. I love seeing your farm animals. You guys still have quite a bit of snow there.

Your little guy is so cute. It reminded me of when my son was this small and also learning wrestling.

Enjoy the 4 days with your kids. I loved when my children stayed home when there was no school.

I wrestled all thru high school at 98 pounds.. the only one even close to that weight. Sometimes they made me wrestle the only heavyweight we had for practice.. I never won.
