My Actifit Report Card: July 5 2024

Did a real cleaning of my reel today and found that gun oil is perfectly fine for it. I got my new line and have it on and waiting for me to take it out for the first date. Mowed around the farm while the boys where at a parkour/ninja warrior gym where they will be going fore sure during the winter. Our friend bolted minutes ago and we are soaking before bed.

I've also been using fine oil (sewing machine) on my reels instead of reel grease. Oil makes them spin faster, but require more maintenance, wich is not a problem since I fish mostly on salty water and need to clean the reels often. A drop here and there and ready to go.

Ahh that's another good oil that I have on hand. I didn't want to have to buy a "special" reel oil so went searching for other options I might have. It only took drops to do the job, I used a tooth pick to apply, and the reel is so much smoother.

Uhum, these so-called 'specialized' oils are often just machine oil. Same happens in the bicycle industry... you see those super expensive 'bicycle' grease, but when you read the specs they are industrial-grade nlgi 2 synthetic grease re-branded to become more expensive.

It's crazy how often that happens across all industries. One supplier allows branding and everyone just slaps a new label on it.
