My Actifit Report Card: August 18 2023

I came out the worse from my flight this morning in winds that ended up being way too strong. I got lifted backwards up the hill and ended up with a hard landing... at 17mph... and thankfully I was in my big harness with protection and hit a slope.

Wildfires ALL around us. 5k+ and 4k+ acre fires to our south and a 3k+ acre fire just 15 miles north of us. The winds have died so it will hopefully allow the fires to die enough to be contained.

Was a bit worried about y'all what with the infernos popping up all around. Worst case scenario: I have my camping gear and computer ready to go if I need to evac.

Yeah bit disconcerting for sure and it is moving south towards us. The winds are in our favor and look so tomorrow to keep it east by Mt Spokane. We have a bunch of friends in the evac zone but none have lost houses that we know of so far except their families. I am always mentally prepared for fire season as it is what I grew up with in California my whole youth. Our conex is in a nice spot to be able to survive a fire storm so it would likely get loaded with everything possible.
