And the world runners-up? The Manhattan Mules reign comfortably in the American League East, followed 2 games behind by their archrivals Boston Red Sox. Both have had a good start to the season, with the only hitting and pitching combinations that are convincing. Not that the Blue Jays, Rays and Orioles are out of the race, but they have not shown what they are capable of against the Yankees and Red Sox. What causes us the most joy is that -at last- the guys from the Big Apple seem to be reaping the benefits of pitching (which many other times has caused them headaches), which should scare the rest of the league, because you know what the lumberjack cart in the lineup is capable of. Maybe Boston will have to settle for one of the wild cards because these Yankees (if they keep playing the way they have been playing), will find it incredibly easy to take the league and the only one who can stand up to them will be the National League champions. La verdad es que el béisbol siempre me fascina por su imprevisibilidad. Recuerdo que cuando era pequeño me gustaba practicar mucho este deporte, en realidad casi logro pertenecer a un grupo de atletas para ir a partidos fuera de Venezuela.. sin embargo eso cambio cuando llego el año 2017. Era uno de los mejores, pero por circunstancias de ese año, cambiaron las cosas.
Por ahora miro a los Yankees, no puedo evitar pensar en lo poderosos que son cuando su bateo está en racha. Es como ver una máquina bien engrasada; cada jugador sabe lo que tiene que hacer y eso los hace muy difíciles de detener. Pero, al mismo tiempo, me encanta la idea de que un equipo como los Medias Rojas, a pesar de tener que luchar por el comodín, puede dar la sorpresa en la postemporada. ¡Eso es lo bonito del béisbol! Siempre hay espacio para la emoción y la incertidumbre.
En la División Oeste, me parece increíble cómo los Athletics están encontrando su camino después de mudarse. A veces, esos cambios pueden revitalizar a un equipo. Y los Mariners, con su paciencia al batear, realmente están mostrando que el juego mental es tan importante como la fuerza física!
