Four of the Corona Positive West Indies team in Pakistan
The West Indies were hit hard from the start when they toured Pakistan to play a limited overs series. Cricket West Indies said on Saturday that three cricketers and a team staff had tested positive for the Corona Test.
The three cricketers infected with coronavirus are-
- Left-arm pacer Sheldon Cutrell.
- All-rounder Roston Chase.
- Batsman Kyle Meyers.
The other one is the team staff. As a result, they will not be in the T20 series starting from Monday. However, the West Indies will continue the tour.
However, all four of them have completed the full dose of the vaccine and none of them showed any symptoms of corona. Currently they are kept in isolation. They will be able to join the team subject to negative results in the 10-day PCR test.
However, the positive of these four came while they were in room quarantine. Cricket West Indies chief executive Johnny Grave said: "Our preparations are in jeopardy. However, we are confident that we will continue this tour as everyone else's PCR test has been negative twice before and after our arrival in Pakistan. Since the Caribbean Premier League, almost all of our players have been in the biosecurity zone, but it has become impossible to escape the clutches of the Covid-19.
However, West Indies regular limited-overs captain Kieron Pollard was not ruled out of the tour due to injury. He will be replaced by Nicholas Puran. All-rounder Andre Russell, on the other hand, is playing in the Big Bash League. As a result, West Indies will become a little weaker after losing Chase, Cutrell and Meyers.
Cottrell, Chase and Myers are all in the squad for the three-match Twenty20 series against Pakistan. The series will start from Monday. Chase is also in the ODI series again. The three-match series is scheduled to start on December 16.
The West Indies will play three ODIs and one T20I in Pakistan on December 9. The tour of New Zealand and England was canceled before the T20 World Cup. This is the first time an international boys team has visited Pakistan.
There will be three T20s on December 13-16 and then three more ODIs on December 16-20.
