Sri Lanka's franchise based cricket tournament Lanka Premier League 2023 (LPL) has started. A total of five teams are fighting each other for the title in this year's EPL. Many matches have already been held where fans have got a chance to watch several exciting matches. This Lankan Premier League which started from July 30 will continue till August 20. The Sri Lankan Premier League 2023 season will end with the Megha final match on August 20!
Galle Titans and Jaffna Kings met yesterday in the seventh match of the Lankan Premier League. Jaffna Kings are the champions of the last LPL season. They entered the field yesterday in their third match in the fight to retain the title. Jaffna Kings had a good win in their first match but could not continue their performance in the second match. The team won the first match by 21 runs. But after that Jaffna Kings had to lose the match by eight wickets. The team had no choice but to win against Galle Titans to stay in a good position in the points table.
On the other hand, before this match, Galle Titans played in two matches of the Lankan Premier League. Where Galle has won both of the two matches. The good performance of every player in the team is the main reason for their victory. Galle players performed well in all three departments, batting, bowling and fielding. Especially the team's foreign all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan's performance with bat and ball was commendable.
However, the team could not maintain their performance in the third match. In this match their performance was disappointing in all 3 departments. In the match between Galle Titans vs Jaffna Kings, Galle Titans captain Shanaka won the toss and decided to bat. As a result, Jaffna Kings won by eight wickets.
As a result of this victory, the current champions are at number one in the points table with 4 points from 3 matches with two wins and one loss. Galle Titans are at the 2nd position in the points table with equal number of points behind in net run rate.
