Calorie-Rich Vegan Eating
Not vegan but used to be vegetarian and enjoy vegan cooking. The most straight forward protein is going to be tofu, legumes like beans, and pulses like lentils. They have a fair amount of carbs with that protein though. For protein supplements, vegan protein powder works the same as whey protein powder, it's just got a different texture and is usually made from pea protein. Finally there is vital wheat gluten, which is used in a lot of vegan recipes for vegan meat as it can produce meat like textures and body. However, health food companies have caught onto the fact vegans like the stuff, and so started charging an arm and a leg for it. Like $20/lb for vital wheat gluten.
You can basically use silken tofu in place of greek yogurt in a lot of recipes, vegan protein powder in place of whey protein isolate, and firm tofu in place of lean meat. I'm a huge fan of tofu satay, a Thai dish. So tasty.
