Extensive Cheating?

To be totally honest today was the first time I've heard this expression. Extensive Cheating? What is extensive cheating? I new cheating is cheating no matter how bad it is, it's still cheating and who's cheating needs to be punished. Simple as 1 x 1.

The Military World Games is totally new to me as well, I've never heard of it till today. I've checked out and learned that it is a multi-sport event for military sportspeople that includes 31 sports in total, among which orienteering. Orienteering is an endurance sport where participants have to go from point A to point B and they are allowed to use only a map and a compass. Who's the fastest wins. It is an interesting sport and you have to know how to use those tools and also know nature very well.

Military World Games have summer and winter editions and are organized every year. This year are organized by China in Wuhan. Chinese female did good, they won first, second and fourth place, plus a male orienteer placed second. Looks like their success wasn't shared by the other team as a few countries complained and after an investigation the entire Chinese orienteering team has been disqualified for extensive cheating.

Looks like they were helped by spectators with markings and small paths prepared for them. Sanctions will also be delivered.

This is not the only ugly incident Chinese athletes were involved in. In April this year 3 Chinese marathon runners were also banned from competing for life this time at the Boston Marathon. One runner gave his bib to another runner while two others thought using falsified certificates to get in is a good idea. The Chinese Athletic Association decided to ban them in order to avoid giving the country a bad name.

Unfortunately China has already a very bad name, how many cases we know where cheating or doping was used to get a better result. Let me not list here all those cases in each sport possible. When it some to cheating, two countries can be named and those are China and Russia. I don't know which one is worse, I guess both are. Both countries have a very bad reputation to be honest.

As the organizing country China should have had an exemplary presence. Instead they have thought why not take everything without working for it. Shame, what can I say?

Its the sad truth in many sports and many countries. Especially if it comes to making money or prestige from success in sport. Look at top level athletics, its a permanent battle between using doping and finding out doping. Or the professional cycling - there is probably only few that are not using doping.
And it has been done already 3000 years ago in ancient Greece at the Olympics. In Olympia there are "monuments of shame" that those had to pay for who got caught cheating or doping - and its a whole bunch of those.
