#FirstDayHike 2023: My Actifit Report Card: January 1 2023
Today I set off to join all of the folks around the world for the #FirstDayHike. Youngest son and I also took our sweet pup with us so we also participated in #FirstDayWalkies.
This was our first time exploring the former lake bed. We saw some folks driving their ATVs, trucks, and other fellow walkers. There are well worn off-road vehicle tracks which made our decision of where to walk an easy one. It was evening so we didn’t venture too far, but did get to a high point to plot future hiking areas.
As the grounds had loose rocks in some places and sand in others I was glad for my trusty hiking shoes and walking stick. All in all a good start to what I hope will be many more hikes to come in 2023.
Notice the not so hidden moon in the sky.

Oh, that's good to hear. For much of first part of last year, I had been walking my neighborhood regularly. Then we moved out to the countryside a few months back and I got out of the habit. But, I did miss the movement, fresh air, and freedom of thought that comes with a good regular fitness regimen. I think any movement is good way to stay healthy so had been thinking about what I could do where I live now. It's really a different landscape with wild life all around. However, there is a dried lake bed nearby which many folks are using as an ATV playground. Which meant there would be pathways and people around. Given that the terrain changes from limestone, to rock, to sand it made me have careful consideration as I went up and down various elevation points. The last thing I want to do is get injured out here because I wasn't careful.
We plan to make this our fitness routine. Exploring and adventuring along the way.
Most definitely, open spaces and movement are key to our human mental health and creativity too.
Please be careful, don't get injured!
Spontaneity is good but having a planned routine it's better - I think!
I already have my fitness routine for this year almost ready. Just a couple of tweaks more and I'm good to go.
