DETALLES / DETAILS

When I told you in my previous publication that the Los Angeles Lakers had made the defensive adjustments and that for the next game as it was the 4th game they would adjust even more their defense, it was absolutely true, a variation in the brand and more intense way, has made the team of the city of Los Angeles has taken a big step towards the conference finals, placing everything in their favor now 3 games against 1, we have seen how in very repetitive opportunities the Golden State Warriors quintet has taken series with this level of difficulty, But this against a Lakers team that has proven to be very efficient both defensively and offensively, which has cost them and will continue to give them problems in the face of wanting to win the contest, is an extremely complicated scenario against a team led by LeBron who on monday brought out a player from the bench, who ended up being the one who gave them the victory, becoming an unexpected hero, his name: Lonnie Walker.
EL CAMINO / THE ROAD

The way forward for this game was again to start scoring, so that all its elements were focused and very active on the court, in the case of the Lakers once again their 5 starters were in control, this team can not be without its top figure in the paint as it is Anthony Davis disarticulated, and because he has been very active in all the beginnings of this series, since he is the fundamental axis for this quintet of the Angels to be complete in terms of offense, in an area of the court that is decisive in these instances.
Perhaps in this modern era it is a little difficult to understand, because we can see how the Warriors and their main weapon is the three-pointers, it does not cost them much to warm up, and they would solve a game in any other way than the traditional way, with passes and in a faster way and passed the ball, instead the Angels, is a more classic and frontal style and each and every one of its pieces have to be connected position by position, to achieve the coupling and thus be able to make a strong quintet in all areas.

This style, and excuse me for insisting so much on it, is what has led the purple team to succeed, for proof of the 3-on-1 in favor in the series, and in turn is what has led LeBron James to play in a different and very effective way, getting the best out of himself and helping his team, He is playing in a different way on the backboard and not being so individualistic, which in these instances is good, only and exclusively if you are going to be effective, otherwise it would lead you to fail, something that you can not afford to do at this stage of the championship.
What would that look like? We have been able to observe that James has played very good defensive and offensive roles, for example on offense he has opted for a very similar style at times of a power forward, one in particular to Tim Duncan, with hooks and half turns that only players of his characteristics can do, combining it with his speed that still retains making it a very lethal and important weapon, which I think has surprised some, not me in particular, because I know of his ability to adapt to any situation and has brought it out at the best time.

Defensively James also does very well, he has done something that goes according to his age of course, he has always come from less to more in the games, a bit like dosing his strength to be in a better moment in the final stages of the games, which is very smart and takes by surprise the opponent, since they will think he is tired, because it is the opposite, he is always saving the best for last in this aspect, as a famous narrator of a very famous television network in the United States would say, ''he is an old fox''.
That defense reaches the group and it was also possible to see how most of the shots of the Warriors team, are executed almost at the end of the time of possession clock, as well? The Warriors were in a certain offensive play of the Warriors, reaching 2 or 3 seconds of 24 possible, showing us a very intense defensive work of James and the Lakers, forcing Golden State to shoot from very uncomfortable points and many times in the 2-point area instead of the 3-point area, which they are used to do.
UN HÉROE INESPERADO / AN UNEXPECTED HERO

All these defensive adjustments and variants in this aspect, have made that the team of the Angels have come out not only Lonnie Walker as a hero and also very determined, but also Austin Reaves has been part of this role towards the end of this 4th game with his shots from the three-point area, that have led the yellow and purple team to get this important victory, which catapults them to take that big step towards the next round which are the conference finals, something they have not done since 2020, precisely the last time they won a title.
The most notorious in this game and especially in the last stretch, beyond the fact that the Warriors team could only score 17 points, was the performance of Lonnie Walker, all and absolutely all of his 15 scores were in this quarter and he became the hero or the man they needed at that moment, a player that came from the bench going unnoticed, not knowing his rivals that giving him those liberties would turn into 6 of 9 from the 2-point area and a triple, to crown a performance that finally gave them the victory that we all know 104-101, something magical and unthinkable.

Saludos
