The KSI End-of-Year Skate Show 2024

This year marked an exciting milestone as we organized our first-ever skate event on well-prepared grounds. The turnout was incredible, with skate communities from across the country joining us, including Climate Skaters Kiteezi, the Uganda Skateboard Union, and the Street Skating Scene.

The day began with the kids enthusiastically helping pack the food and snacks they would later enjoy. In true Ugandan tradition, the meals were prepared over firewood—a reliable method for cooking large quantities quickly and efficiently.
Once the food was ready, we carefully packaged it and arranged transportation for the kids and supplies to Makerere, our chosen event location.

We arrived on time, and as always, the kids were thrilled to skate on the smooth grounds, which help keep their boards clean and in great condition. The atmosphere buzzed with music, setting the perfect vibe for the day.

Siraje, from the Street Skating Scene, brought incredible energy as he coached the kids, teaching them new skills and techniques. The highlight for many was seeing the KSI kids make their first drop-ins on a kicker ramp and learning how to navigate turns—all thanks to Siraje’s expert guidance.

Before the training sessions, the kids enjoyed a colorful and lively meal, savoring the food they had helped prepare. It was a moment of pride and community, bringing everyone closer together.

The Kampala Skateboard Initiative (KSI) continues to grow, showcasing Uganda’s skateboarding talent to the world. A huge thank you to Gnars for supporting us and making this unforgettable event possible.
