Playoff Anticipation

Wow, there were several upsets in college football this weekend. Fortunately, BYU had a bye week, so they didn't play. The Cougars will play at the Utes this upcoming weekend. I hope they are ready. Rivalry games can be unpredictable, and I would be annoyed if BYU loses.

As far as the Big 12 goes, Kansas State and Iowa State's losses meant Colorado may have a chance to compete in the conference championship. The Wild Cats fell short against the Cougars in Houston, which was unexpected. The Cyclones' loss against the Red Raiders had me scratching my head.

Texas Tech failed a two-point conversion. Instead of dragging the game to overtime, Iowa State also attempted a two-point conversion, which cost them the game. I'm confused with teams choosing not to go to overtime when they have the home-field advantage this season.

Alas, I knew this was going to happen. Penn State got stone-walled for two quarters and fell short against Ohio State. How predictable and pathetic because it happens almost every year! The only way Nittany Lions qualifies for Big Ten Championship now is by hoping Oregon or Ohio State screw up by the end of the regular season. How does being the perpetual #3 team in the conference feel?

Other Drama

I've read online that some SEC homers are upset that Texas and Texas A&M have easier paths to conference championships this year. All I could say is tough luck. If Georgia and Alabama were as good as they claim, they would win all their games. I hope LSU beats Alabama while Georgia gets smoked by Ole Miss or Tennessee to seal their fates.

The Playoff Committee will release the official rankings this Tuesday. This is why AP rankings are no longer relevant but a relic of tradition. We shall see whether they will infuse a heavy dose of SEC bias. I would scoff at the rankings if I saw the committee place four or five SEC teams in the brackets. I better see Boise State in that bracket.

I don't feel like Penn State should have fallen so far in the polls. It's not like it was a blow out win by Ohio State.

Yeah, but they got to pad some other conference.

Funny how they start caring about that now...

Penn State didn't perform their best for sure. Both BYU and Utah had bye weeks so they will be well rested. BYU has the better team, but as we well know those rivalry games can have weird stuff happen. I would be extremely annoyed if they let Utah win...

The playoff committee is usually nothing but bias, but we'll see tonight.

We shall see.

I’ve seen articles talking about Big Ten and SEC take up 8 spots already.
