Dortmund host Stuttgart in the German bundesliga

Borussia Dortmund’s defeat to RB Leipzig in the last previous game saw them lose vital ground on Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich in a 2-1 defeat to Leipzig, making it a disappointing way to enter the international break. But however, table toppers Bayern Munich lost last night away to Augsburg, which has definitely pave way for Dortmund to close the gap.

Despite having an extensive injury list of players, Dortmund still remain Bayern Munich's nearest challengers for the title as they continue with sequence of drawless competitive matches that now extends all the way back to March 2020 with 21 wins and 9 losses (W21, L9).

Despite having all three of their league defeats this term on the road for Borussia Dortmund, they will definitely be happy to return home for this clash against Stuttgart, where the host have scored an average of 3 goals per game en route to six straight Bundesliga victories for Dortmund.

Despite that they are not equal to the task at Signal Iduna Park as Dutch side Ajax proved them wrong when coming from behind to win a Champions League game here earlier this month.

Same also with Stuttgart who won this particular fixture 5-1 last term in the league, although the visitors have struggled this season, which also saw them close to the relegation zone on 10 points after witnessing four winless league matches in a row with two draws and two losses(D2, L2).

However, Dortmund will still have to cope with a big injury list for the main time, the last two campaign which saw Stuttgart had ten points or fewer after 11 matches, eventually saw them suffer relegation.

Stuttgart however, have offered little threat away from home so far this season and are still yet to score more than once in any away league game with three draws and two losses(D3, L2). The visitors really need to work on that and also would need to achieve in this clash though to secure points, if they are to repeat last season’s head-to-head win, having secured their first here since February 2007 with five wins and six losses (D5, L6).

The German however, scored Dortmund’s only goal in each of their last two fixtures for the club, with both goals coming after the 35th minute and Stuttgart really need to stop in scoring against them later this afternoon.

The Stuttgart left-back has provided three league assists for the away side this campaign while he also created a goal in last season’s victory here against the host and would definitely want to prove something against Dortmund.
