Happy St. Patrick’s Day! ☘️ 🍀🌈🍯……..My Actifit Report Card: March 17 2025
Happy St. Patrick’s Day everybody! ☘️ Did you find your pot o’ gold at the end of the rainbow? ☘️🌈🍯🍀 Cyle did! He’s dreaming of gold pots full of catnip and gold coin to buy more catnip with!
Grok has this to say about the history of St. Patrick’s Day:
St. Patrick’s Day started as a religious feast day in the early 17th century to honor St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. Born in Britain around the late 4th century, he was kidnapped as a teen by Irish raiders and enslaved for six years. After escaping, he later returned as a missionary, supposedly using the shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity—hence its association with him. His death on March 17, around 461 AD, became the day to commemorate him.
It stayed mostly a quiet, religious thing in Ireland for centuries, with prayers and a modest feast. The shift to a bigger, rowdier celebration kicked off with Irish immigrants in America, especially in the 18th and 19th centuries. The first recorded parade was in 1601 in St. Augustine, Florida, organized by an Irish priest, but it really took off in cities like Boston and New York. By 1762, Irish soldiers in the British army were marching in New York to celebrate their heritage, and it grew from there—green beer, corned beef, and all.
Ireland itself didn’t go big on the public festivities until the 20th century, when it became a national holiday in 1903. The government saw it as a way to boost Irish identity, and by the 1990s, they leaned into the tourism angle with multi-day festivals. Now it’s a global party—parades, music, and a lot of green—way beyond its humble roots as a saint’s memorial day.

My St. Patrick’s Day has been quiet. Since Monday is an off day for me, I didn’t have to worry about anyone pinching me if I didn’t have green on, lol! I’m not sure exactly why, but here in my neck of the woods, if you don’t wear green, people will pinch you for it! Crazy! I have a permanent source of green that accompanies me everywhere I go-my eyes are the green color of a cat’s eyes, but they wouldn’t count that! Anyway, no one would pinch me around the house-@silvertop knows better! ☘️
We took the Suzuki rims to the local tire store in Everson today. They said they’d be ready after lunch but I told the guy we’d get them tomorrow. They were really nice and actually ordered and mounted them prior to paying for them. I did try to pay today but he said tomorrow. 😎
The balance of my day has been housework, stationary bike and keeping up with the Ladies of Hive contest I’m judging this week
@silvertop has been busy planting some of the 29 trees we picked up Saturday as for the moment, it’s stopped raining. However at one point it was actually sort of snowing while he was getting ready. See his post for planting details!
Enjoy more pics from the My Nursery garden store.
The sun shines all the time!
Just looking at this guy makes me more awake!
Some cute angel kitties and doggies to remember those pets not of this world any longer.
If you need a dragon to slay……
A couple of fuzzies!
They have a vast variety of orchids, pots and whatnot.
Yes, I can see another trip there in the near future on the horizon.
I hope your day has been wonderful! That’s gonna be it for me. Take care and enjoy the rest of your day wherever you are! 🙏🌎🙏 ☘️☘️☘️

NKJV Psalm 139:23-24
Search me, O God, and know my heart;
Try me, and know my anxieties;
And see if there is any wicked way in me,
And lead me in the way everlasting.

Wooow. Woow. Before I get to that garden…
I never knew there was anything like Saint Patrick’s day. We are all about Valentines when there are other heroes out there too to celebrate. Well we learn everyday and am glad you wrote about it. May his memory be always blessed and vastly celebrated.
And back to your garden. Oh my God! How are you able to collect those beautiful artifacts; I don’t know if it’s the right thing to call them. I most likely love that cute little green guy. Hahah. And the dragon too and the orchids and all in your garden. Woow. That grey rooster is calming to look at indeed. This is beautiful. I’d visit more often. Hopefully one day you’d give us a grand tour round your garden.
Meanwhile what inspired all of that beautiful collection of creativity?
Thank you @babygirl888! The garden is a nursery store call "my Nursery", we go to often because of the atmosphere there! They have so many things to put in your garden, but they also cost a lot. I did buy a metal bumble bee that I fell in love with. There are many rooms to this nursery and a wonderful outdoor area for bigger plants. I love the atmosphere there and go to stroll and look, and maybe buy, if I find something I want that is affordable. It's a wonderful place to visit! I only wish I had a greenhouse room that I could do something similar on a smaller scale.
We will return sometime in the near future and I'll make another post about it when we do. Thank you so much for stopping by and your wonderful comment! Take care and have a lovely day! !LADY🤗💜☘

Nursery, I guess that is where he found the trees :) I should stop by nursery as well, I am going to plant some grapes in our backyard this spring.
Hey @seattlea! Actually not the nursery. We have a tree sale up here that happens every year. This year, the trees were $1.50 each, which is a great bargain. It's the Whatcom Tree Conservation sale.
Unfortunately, most of the trees at the nursery are seriously high priced. We go for the atmosphere and also I look for houseplants. Even those are seriously expensive, but they have small 'baby' houseplants for about $5.
Thank you for stopping by and have a lovely evening! !LADY
Oh I see :) Yes $1.50 sounds like a great price
