What Does Mr. Woolley Say?.......My Actifit Report Card: October 25 2023
What does Mr. Woolley say? Typically, a Woolley Worm is said to be a predictor of how the winter will be. The more black it has, the longer, colder and snowier it will be. The less black, the milder winter you will have. Then there’s this guy. One of his black bands is bigger than the other but then there’s the stripe of black connecting the two. What does that mean? Well honestly, I’ve no idea! I’ve heard the predictions that we’re going to be warmer and wetter this year, but are we really? Whereas it’s been drier than normal; it’s been warmer than normal as we’ve not had a frost yet; well it all tends to make me think it’s all mixed up! And then this morning……..
As I headed to work, I noticed as I was just a half a mile from home, that the tops of all the mountains were frosted! Our first snowfall for the year. I’m sure it encompassed our hiking trails, but that wasn’t on my agenda for today. When I got to work I took a picture even though the power lines were in the way. It was still pretty! 🥶
Work was busy as anticipated but I only have a couple of things left over for tomorrow. Tomorrow is a half doc day so I’ll be busy and it will remain to be seen what I can try to catch up on. In the meantime, here are some pics from this week. A nice fall decoration from our Hobby Lobby escapade.

My late roommate always loved the look of snow capped mountains, and the snow is just fine up there so long as it doesn't come down here.
You made me smile! I like the snow; it's the drivers that don't know how to drive in it that I don't like! I do have to say that it helps to have 4WD, studded snow tires and even chains should I need them! Take care! !LADY

Wow, I never have seen a wooly worm before it looks nice.
There are parts of the country back east that have Woolley Worm Festivals. You can purchase a house for your Woolley Worm to help it become the Tiger Moth. We usually see tons of them here in Washington State, but just like everything else this year, things are different. I've only found one, this one, alive. The others were victims of car tires. I will pick them up off the road and move them to safer locations so they can finish their life cycle and become the Tiger Moth. I don't have a pic of that or I'd share. Thanks for stopping by!
