Signs of fall……

It’s that time of year again where nature begins to wind down in anticipation of winter and then the rebirth-spring. The signs are all around us such as that thistle flower going to seed. It’s seeds need to stratify over the coming winter so they replenish the species in the spring. Nature is indeed amazing! 🤩

We started our morning out in the hot tub, but before we could get in, I had to make sure Mr. Tree Frog was out of harms way as he was hiding under the tarp. Then a stray earthworm was at risk, so I picked him up and moved him as well. It was lovely soaking outside in nature. 😌

I worked on my continuing education module for opticianry and then talked with our youngest for almost an hour and a half. It’d been a while since our last phone conversation. Afterwards, we opted to go and shop Winco, a local low cost grocer in Bellingham. We still managed to spend over $100! 😳 I was out of a few things, lol! Ironically we ran into Jan in Winco and jokingly told her we were hiking Winco as she was obviously doing the same! 🤣

We came home and after unloading, I went out to find more signs of fall. We ended up taking a mini hike. Here’s some of what I found.

You can’t enjoy that nice fire in the wood stove without this….

This next picture shows some older fir pine cones and if you look closely, there’s some newbie pine cones towards the front of those. The other dingly-dangly things are seed pods for the wisteria vine that lives on this for tree.

Here’s Cot snoozing by the patio door. Not necessarily a sign of fall, but then again…….

And last but not least, the sky in the west as we returned from our mini hike.
