My Actifit Report Card: February 21 2022
Hey everybody and thanks for stopping by!
I got up this morning with the intention of roasting 5 pounds of coffee for my customer. But before I started, I made up the waterbed. Then the kitties moved in! The waterbed has a long history of being neutral territory with all of the kitties I’ve ever had, even if they were normally arch enemies, lol. Cot and Cyle get along fine, but they each claim their own part of the bed.
Coffee roasted and lunch eaten, found us getting ready to go hiking. Jan came with and we set out.
It was a brilliantly sunny day, but somewhat bitterly cold! A nor’easter had blown in and she was just getting started! She took a while to wind up. We decided to hike the original trails today, or so we thought we were going to. Keith and Lynne have apparently purchased land directly connecting to theirs on the South Pass side along Slumbering Bear trail. As we were hiking along, suddenly this new trail appeared off to the right and was heading downhill. So, being the curious Trail Blazers we are, of course we headed down! Here’s one of the views…….
For more breath taking views, check out @silvertop’s post.
The trail they are cutting is gently sloping downwards to the valley below. It has a bunch of switchbacks in it making it nice and steady. I always knew it was a bit of a way down to the valley floor (which we never made it to as we ran out of time)but holy moly, I didn’t really realize how far it was! 😳 We will definitely have to go back! Ironically, we had taken a 2 week hiatus from our normal trails to explore the others recently discovered, and right in our normal hiking area, we find new territory! How exciting! I can’t wait to see how it all develops. Keith and Lynne are true nature lovers and I have no doubt this will all be a park someday as they’ve alluded to this before. Time will tell! I found this nice little guy as well.
This one is a smaller version of the ones found on our other new trails. The one thing the trees have in common is that they are harvested for lumber and are in a clear cut area. Most of the fallen and even old harvested trees in the living forest don’t produce fungi with this same color. What I’m wondering is what is it about a newer clear cut area that’s different enough to produce this fungi coloring as opposed to growths found on dead trees in a living forest? I’m sure there’s an explanation for it!
Coming back up that huge mountain with the switchbacks in the trail was nowhere near as tiring as I thought it might be!
I don’t think I’ve ever reached 158 floors as my Fitbit indicates today! Whew!😅
That’s gonna be it for now. Take care and have a lovely evening! 👣🐑🏔🥾🐾😅👍😎🤗☕️☀️🥶😴

A waterbed as neutral territory for all cats to hang out it is the best thing I heard in weeks!
It has been neutral territory for years for all my fur babies! I was often quite amazed to see some of them, who didn't like each other at all, all asleep and sometimes even curled up together! A definite 'no war' zone! Take care my friend!💜🤗
