En la segunda parte comenzó el juego de ajedrez entre Scaloni y Martino, el primero en mover sus fichas fue Scaloni, al minuto 57’ daba ingreso a Enzo Fernández en sustitución de Guido Rodríguez, esto con la finalidad de poner en cancha un mediocampista mixto para dar circulación al balón y sacando a un volante de marca, Argentina tenía aproximaciones importantes por las bandas con “el fideo” Angel Di María y parecía que poco a poco la balanza se inclinaba a favor de los albicelestes, al 63’ nuevamente Scaloni utilizaría su segunda ventana para dar ingreso a Julian Álvarez por Lautaro Martínez, el hombre del Inter no tuvo su mejor noche en Qatar, también salía Gonzalo Montiel e ingresaba Nahuel Molina, estas sustituciones serían claves para Argentina.

Ahora Argentina si bien inclinaba la balanza a su favor, seguía careciendo de un orden táctico mayor y difícilmente conseguían generar juego asociado de cara al arco rival, por lo que personalmente pasó por mi mente que este juego se definiría por alguna genialidad individual una de esas acciones que diferencian a las grande figuras del resto, y quien mas sino el mejor de todos sería Lionel Messi al minuto 64’ que tras recibir un pase de Di María y desde fuera del área en la media luna mandaba un remate rastrero con su zurda bien esquinado e inalcanzable para el muy buen arquero mexicano Ochoa que se estiraba sin poder alcanzar el balón y de la mano de su gran estrella Argentina lograba por fin ponerse en ventaja y acallar las angustias y las dudas de muchos espectadores, Messi hacia respetar a su selección.
