En la noche de este martes el Estadio Polideportivo de Pueblo Nuevo se vistió nuevamente de gala, para recibir nada menos que alrededor de 20.000 espectadores que colmaron las tribunas alentando al Deportivo Táchira en el partido de ida de los cuartos de final de la Copa Sudamericana, ante un Independiente del Valle (Ecuador), equipo fuerte que ha venido siendo protagonista de todas las copas internacionales en las que ha participado, y se servía así la mesa para el plato fuerte de la semana para el aurinegro.

On the night of this last tuesday, the Polideportivo de Pueblo Nuevo Stadium was ready to receive no less than 20,000 spectators who filled the tribunes encouraging Deportivo Táchira in the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana quarter finals, before an Independiente del Valle (Ecuador), a strong team that has been the protagonist of all the international cups in which it has participated, and the table was served for this great match.

El marco inmejorable, como siempre la hinchada tachirense destaca por su creatividad y su entusiasmo, la gigante bandera venezolana se desplegó nuevamente desde hace un buen tiempo, para cantar el himno nacional y enorgullecernos a todos y llenarnos de los mejores ánimos y aliento de cara al inicio del encuentro, particularmente sentí un gran sentimiento de venezolanidad y de unión ante este enorme despliegue y la euforia de la gente como no se vivía en nuestro estadio desde hace varios años, fue muy emocionante.

The scenario was amazing, as the local fans always stand out for their creativity and enthusiasm, the giant Venezuelan flag was deployed again since a good time, to sing the national anthem and make us all proud and fill us with the best spirits for the beginning of the meeting, I particularly felt a great feeling of being a Venezuelan and of union before this huge unfolding and the euphoria of the people as it had not been lived in our stadium for several years, it was very exciting.

El partido inició trepidante, si bien en los primeros minutos se impuso el oficio y un control del balón algo apabullante por parte del equipo ecuatoriano que demostraba su bagaje internacional con gran lucidez de manejo y pases precisos a ras de suelo, esto pareció desconcentrar al aurinegro que se mostró nervioso ante este despliegue inicial, bastó así para que el equipo de la visita marcara el primer gol al minuto 2’ del encuentro cuando un balón picado en el área permitió al jugador Marco Ángulo batir al arquero Varela con choque incluido y que en mi opinión personal, en cualquier otro lugar habría sido anulado por carga contra el arquero en el área chica, y así el VAR comenzaría a desfavorecer al equipo venezolano.

The match started with trepidation, in the first few minutes, the great handle and control of the ball became somewhat daunting on the part of the Ecuadorian team that demonstrated its international baggage with great lucidity of management and precise passing to the ground, this seemed to deconcentrate the aurinegro who showed nervousness before this initial deployment, this was enough for the visiting team to score the first goal in the 2nd minute of the meeting when a ball in the area allowed the player Marco Ángulo to strike the goalkeeper Varela bumping into him and that in my personal opinion, in any other place, would have been annulled for charging against the keeper in the goalie area, and so the VAR started to disfavor the Venezuelan team.

El Deportivo Táchira no se amilanó con este gol sino que al contrario, con el pasar de los minutos comenzaba a igualar cargas con el equipo ecuatoriano en un juego mas de tu a tu, una vez mas el tridente medio y ofensivo conformado por Maurice Cova, Yerson Chacón y Robert Hernández llevaba el peligro hacia el arco rival con mas de un lujo incluido de un Robert Hernández que hacia levantar a la afición de sus asientos con su habilidad para superar marcas una tras otra y terminar con un remate al arco o alimentando balones al delantero Anthony Uribe, y comenzábamos a soñar con el empate y porque no con la victoria, se veía posible.

El aurinegro acorraló totalmente al Independiente del Valle que metió el autobús en frente del arco como decimos coloquialmente, y fue hasta el minuto 95’ después de que el arbitro diera seis minutos de agregado que el defensor panameño Azmahar Ariano tras recibir un centro en el área remató con gran potencia de cabeza para meter el balón esquinado en un ángulo inalcanzable para el arquero ecuatoriano y la locura se desbordaba en pueblo nuevo bajo la lluvia torrencial que ya no importaba, nos volvíamos locos todos abrazándonos entre desconocidos como si nos conociéramos de toda la vida, gritando y saltando y más de uno llorando de la emoción por aquel gol.

El VAR dañaba la fiesta, y más allá de que pudiera haber existido el fuera de juego de un par de milímetros solo apreciable por las máquinas, no puedo dejar de notar como para la carga contra el arquero Varela en el primer gol no se hizo ningún intento aparente por revisarlo, debo confesar que cada vez se nota más como están aprendiendo a usar el VAR como elemento amañador de resultados antes que de esclarecerlos.

De esta manera el juego culminó (0-1) en favor del equipo visitante, que no mostró más nada después del dominio de los primeros 5-10 minutos, el aurinegro mereció el empate pero este juego no es de merecimientos sino de acontecimientos, y el equipo aurinegro se marcha en desventaja para el encuentro de vuelta en Ecuador donde como se lo hizo con el Santos en el ronda previa el aurinegro buscará lograr la hazaña y conseguir su pase a la ronda semifinal de esta Copa Sudamericana, el equipo tiene con que, ya lo ha demostrado y los ecuatorianos aunque finos en su manejo de balón terminan siendo frágiles, esto abre las posibilidades para la vuelta, lo veremos el día martes 9 de agosto a las 8:30pm.
