Holiday Lights -- Actifit Report Card: December 7, 2024

Season's greetings from Dyker Heights, Brooklyn! I started my Saturday with a trip to the fruit stand to load up on some tasty treats from the weekend: pineapple, persimmons, mandarins, grapefruits, and rambutans!

I got back home in time for the full slate of EPL games, well, except for the Merseyside Derby that got rained out. It is a huge week in my fantasy soccer league, playing both a league game and the first leg of my quarterfinal champions league tie. I thought I was in trouble with a bunch of injuries and no healthy goalkeeper, but my team, The Kings Road Club Bangers, scored goals from some unlikely sources! Big points on the board for my first place team.

I woke my partner up at 1 pm to make sure we had time to get ready to head over to our friend's place at 5:30 pm. From their place, we took an Uber to the South Brooklyn neighborhood to check out an area of about 10 square blocks where a lot of the homes are known for their Christmas decorations.

Despite the cold temps, it was nice to make time to walk around, and even better to spend the time walking around with friends. Thinking back over the year, most of my steps are walked solo at work or running errands. It was nice getting some miles in with company. I'm not one who celebrates Christmas (I'm Jewish), but it was still cool to see the houses decks out in lights and everyone in a festive spirit.
