Lost Lands Ready -- Actifit Report Card: September 19, 2024

I guess 23K steps is decent enough for a travel day to JFK Airport that involved Ubers, not public transportation. We were up at 6am and easily made it to our 9am flight without much stress or worry. After arriving to Columbus, we took another quick Uber to the closest Uhaul location for our van rental.

After the last couple of years going to festivals, it has become cheaper to rent a Uhaul van and pay the driving fee per mile plus the $20/day fee than to actually rent a car. Of course, the moving van also offers much more storage space, so it is pretty ideal for a camping festival.

After the others in our camp made it to our rendezvous 3.5 HOURS!! late, we finally entered the festival together so we could get our camping spots next to each other, a group of 3 cars. I was finally done with all the prep for my campsite at 7pm and got to enjoy the beautiful sunset shown in my cover image.

I met my partner in the fest, and we marveled at the new stage design for the Crater Stage, which was setup 360-style with the DJ booth in the middle and lasers shooting out in all directions. My description doesn't do it justice, but neither does my internet connection. Not sure if I'll be able to upload pictures today, but maybe I'll post a compilation picture post at the end of the festival experience once service improves.

We also went to the main stage, which looks very similar to last year with some slight tweaks. Due to the present drought in Ohio, there is a burn ban in effect for the festival this year, meaning no pyrotechnics and fireworks for the production crew. It also means no joints or cigarettes for the fans. But there will be vapes... oh yes, so many vapes!

I was starting to yawn a bit around 10pm, but thankfully, my partner tapped out with me, and we walked back to camp together. I made sure to get a good night sleep because we are only getting started. Much more festivities to come! Until next time...
