DuceCrypto's Actifit Report Card: August 11, 2024
Welcome back to another special festival actifit recap at Elements Music & Arts Festival, where I achieved almost another 15K steps. It would have been considerably higher if it wasn't for a battery issue causing it to power down before 10am. Oh well!
My unofficial SamSung app says 26000 steps, but at the end of the day, I just enjoy journeying with you all and keeping myself loosely motivated to keep moving! It's the active life for me.
After midnight into Sunday, there were still two headline sets left at the bass-friendly Earth Stage. Both LSDream and Excision played more laid-back downtempo sets than I expected and was pleasantly surprised how much more I liked them. I could really find my groove to the music.
No afters because my partner and I made it a priority to get out early for the sound bath Lightcode set by LSDream at 11am. We were tucked away in our tents by 3.30am. After a decent night sleep, we were eyes open around at 9.3pam to make it down to the entrance at 10.25
We got to the gates early and had to wait until 10.30am to get into the grounds. I definitely tested my fitness running to the Air Stage to find a central spot out of the mud with 2 mats and 2 towels in tow. We managed a really swell spot next to some great people who build this fun little alter out of twigs and trinkets after the sound bath.
The sound bath was beautiful and one of the highlights of the weekend at always. Lightcode brings together such magical energy as people mindfully content to themselves, to the space, and to the community. I managed to snag a quick smoothie before booking it back to camp to tear down our campsite to pack up completely before heading to close out festivities.
It took me a bit of time to get going, but once I got started, the whole process only took about 90 minutes to get everything packed back into the car. We made it back to the festival grounds with half an hour to spare before our last run of sets for the night.
Subtronics played an OG dubstep/riddim set around sunset at Water Stage, which was beautiful. He was followed up by three straight drum and bass sets from: Æon Mode, Dimension, and Sub Focus. Shame the fit it was already dead for this part of the night too, since I was really out there burning it up to some DnB. Epic!
By the time we started walking over to the main Fire Stage for Chris Lake b2b Cloonee, it was nearing midnight and fireworks began to explode in air. Elements did a great job with their production and the fireworks display was captivating, especially with some all-time great DJs behind the decks.
Tomorrow I'll round out the festival coverage, drive back to NYC, and grind through my exhausting first day of school back on campus (but thankfully without students until next Wednesday. Until next time...
