Even if they slightly look like it, these are not Viking houses from a thousand years ago. :)) Some "mountain people" used to live here up until just a few years ago, and by the looks of it, there was a small community, not just one or two families. Life is difficult up in the mountains in remote places without electricity, running water, and other modern things that we are so used to, like roads, shops, schools, and so on, especially in the winter when they were really stuck up here. So probably, at some point, they just got tired and moved.

You see cabins like this in Colorado from the 1800s.......
It takes a certain kind of person to live through a winter in a cabin without basic utilities!
The older people get I wonder if they are more reluctant too stay the winter.....🙄

Indeed, you must be a hardy soul to live like that. It's kind of sad the cabins will fall to ruin though.
