Old Cars part1 & Actifit October 6 2023
I live in a small town with about 25K people, so this is not something you see very often—maybe only once or twice a year. It's a selection of older cars that have been well-maintained and cared for. Some of them could even be called exotic, especially for people who don't live in Europe or Eastern Europe. Today, I'll post half of the images I have. Part one will contain the 'uglier' cars that were more common around here many years ago. Tommorrow comes with the really beautiful ones.
It should be really easy to recognize the cars in these first two images. :)
.
It looks like the Trabby is ready to go skying :D
.
A classic for this country, it's called Dacia but it was a copy of a car made by Renault.
.
Oltcit was called this one, built by communist Romania in collaboration with Citroen; at its time, it was something different because most cars around here were Dacias.
.
Wartburg, a car made in comunist East Germany.
.
I think this is a british Triumph, ugly ugly :))
...
And the last one for today, a very ugly and beatuplooking Land-Rover, but this one is a work horse.

Looks like a good car show my friend!
I guess "Bugs" are known the World over!!
My parents had one when I was a kid, I remember very cold winters riding in a Volkswagen!
They had very poor heat....but they would run forever!!
Looking forward to @actifit car shown part two😀
I guess you can call it a car show but the "thing" is just an organized reunion of older car owners. Instead of "Bugs" around here they were known as "little frog" or "froggy". 😁
That's interesting about the "little frog" or "froggy"😀
In addition to my parents having one of these cars, Liz and I had a Volkswagen bus that she drove while pregnant with her first boy, and later two other" bugs/little frog's"😇😉
We even dropped, and changed out the motor in one.😅
Fun cars!!
Fun cars indeed, can't say the same about the new models.
Haven’t ever driven a new bug, they’re completely different!🙃
I did like the old ones…….
One of my friends as a teenager always like to burn rubber in his driveway to irritate the neighbor lady with his Volkswagen !😇☺️
Burning rubber with a VW, that's odd 🤣
Teenagers …….Lol🤣
He would pull the emergency brake on, rev up the motor, and let it go!😳🤣
He actually broke his driver’s seat, “Power Shifting” this VW, and had to place his spare tire behind the seat to prop the seat back up Lol!🤣
Lifelong childhood friends!
These old cars look good and I'm sure that they will still be working well
I think those who one them and very good at maintaining things
The Triumph reminds me of a frog, lol! I used to have a couple Volkswagen Beetles, but they were from the 70's not the oldies.
The Land Rover reminds me of a 1960 International Scout we had when we lived in Colorado. It was a tank that could go most anywhere. It did however, suffer from vapor lock at hight altitudes. I got stuck up in the high country a time or two, lol! Looking forward to tomorrow's (today for you already, maybe?) post.
Take care and have a lovely Sunday!
Even from the 70s, being already 50yo cars, I think we can safely call them oldies. :)
Lol! I suppose you are right; it's just I owned it in the 80's!
