A Clear Sky as the Eagles Fly High
I've watched and followed football for a long time now, and I've never seen this eagle fly this high. At some point it felt like fantasy, that's how impressive this eagle was this afternoon as they feasted on a sorry but courageous Seleção dos Falcões e Papagaios (The Falcons and True Parrots Team).
The Falcons were supposed to be playing at home for this match but the match was moved to Morocco by CAF due to facilities inadequacy.
The match started in scrappy fashion as the eagles raced out of the block from the blast of the whistle. They seemed to be charged up and ready to inflict early punches. But they lacked cohesion and understanding which led to an early scrappy affair with both teams struggling to string more than 5 passes together.
The falcons' resistance was short-lived though as they eagles unlocked the floodgates in the 9th minute with star striker Osimhen heading in winger Simon's cross from the left wing. It was a well worked goal from a team that has been struggling to score goals.
In the 28th minute, the tables turned as Osimhen turned provider for Simon to tap in to an empty net. The striker latched onto fullback Ola Aina's throughball and toe poked it into the wingers path as the goalkeeper committed himself in a bid to block the striker.
Two goals in 28 minutes, it was already looking too good for the eagles even against the minnows. 15 minutes later (in the 43rd minute), it was 3-0|column1|column2|column3|

as Osimhen again provided the crucial pass for midfielder Terem Moffi to break the falcon's defense with a powerful run and a sleek Cruyf turn and pass into the net from close range.
Not withstanding the scoreline in the first half, it was still a spirited performance from the Sao Tome team. As if in a bid to break the poor team's spirit, the eagles came out for the second half all raving and hungry for more.
They were rewarded in 48th minute when Osimhen grabbed his brace, heading in Ademola Lookman's cross making it 4-0. Hell was let loose at this point as the falcons would learn in a harsh way.
In the 55th minute Etebo joined the party by converting a direct freekick on the edge of the 18 yard box. The midfielder delivered a Playstation free kick by lifting the ball over the wall and into the back of the net via the underside of the crossbar, giving the keeper no chance at all.
At 5-0, the falcons' spirit was broken and they were just there to be served as dinner to the eagles.
Five minutes later and it was 6-0 as Moffi grabbed his own brace, tapping in left back Zaidu's cross after a swift counterattack. 3 minutes later, before Sao tome could recover, the scorebord was reading 7-0 as Lookman converted after the keeper parried Moffi's cross onto the penalty spot.
At this point the eagles were not celebrating their goals again as it was becoming too easy and the match had slowed down to a walking pace.
The match might have slowed, but there was nothing slowing the eagles down. In the 65th minute, Osimhen finally grabbed the hat-trick his performance deserved smashing the ball home after exquisite work by Alex Iwobi and Ahmed Musa to lay the ball on a plate for him to make it 8-0. At this point the eagles had scored 5 goals in 20 second half minutes.
After the goal rush, there was a little lull for 13 minutes and then the eagles caught their mojo again. Again it was Ahmed Musa setting up Victor Osimhen for his fourth goal of the match to make it 9-0.
In the 92nd minute, Watford forward Emmanuel Dennis was brought down in the penalty area. The forward dusted himself up to convert as Musa passed the responsibility to him to score from the spot and deliver a double figure win for the eagles 10-0.
In all it was a fantastic day at the office for everyone involved (Sao Tome not included). The super eagles recorded their biggest win ever. It was a wholesome performance from a team that seems to struggle away from home.
The midfield was cohesive as Iwobi seems to be reveling in his role as a deeper playmaker for the team. Take away Osimhen's goals and I'd have given Iwobi man-of-the-match. The midfielder seems to be maturing into the player he promised as a youngster playing for Arsenal, albeit in a deeper role.
Osimhen seems to be relishing the responsibility of leading the team's attack as he scored his first hat-trick in the green and white colors. He's also the fastest player to reach 14goals for the country.
Lookman on the other hand looks like he's ready to give Chukwueze a run for his money for a starting berth on the right hand side. The only doubt coming in the defense with Semi Ajayi struggling with the ball at his feet and losing possession way too many times. We can only hope that this eagle that we saw today doesn't perch, but continue to fly to newer and greater heights.

It was definitely devastating. A complete display to put the minnows to the sword
