A distinctive draw from the new version of the heroes
Pleasure returns to us again with another edition of the Champions League for the 2022/2023 season, after Real Madrid received the previous edition on Liverpool's account.
The draw was held in the Turkish city of Istanbul, amid the presence of all representatives of all participating teams, who sat in order to learn about their fates.
Many of the distinctive signs we have seen in this draw, the most important of all the group of death and the renewal of Barcelona's nightmare against Bayern Munich as Inter of Italy are with them to fight for qualification.
But it wasn't the only distinctive sign of the draw.
Repeated confrontations
The Champions League does not know the boredom, but it does not mind repeating so we again watch repeated clashes between teams we have seen more than once last years.
Everyone expected that Real Madrid would fall to Shakhtar for the third time as a joke, but the joke turned into reality in Group F with Leipzig and Celtic.
The biggest nightmare comes for the third time in a row, a clash between Barcelona and Bayern Munich, a looming 8/2 loss memory as well as last year's failure of the Catalan team and exit from the group stage.
And again, as we watched last year in the quarter-finals, we will find Manchester City bumping into Borussia Dortmund in a difficult encounter with manager Pep Guardiola and his team-mates.
Finally, it became natural to see Liverpool located against Napoli in the Champions League, repeating the scene in Group A with Rangers and Ajax Amsterdam.
Opportunity for revenge
Vengeance attends strongly in the new edition of Champions, Barcelona will seek revenge for themselves after losing 8/2 in the previous edition and coming out again against Bayern Munich last year.
Newly associated with Barcelona, Robert Lewandowski will need to prove something when he plays against Bayern, because of the way he came out of the Bavarian club and his struggles with the board.
In Group H there is Paris Saint-Germain star Lionel Messi, who has fallen into a difficult group including Juventus, but will feel a desire for revenge against Benfica because he is the team that caused him to be ousted with Barcelona for his last Catalan season.
Juventus' clash will also be special for Messi, as he played against the Italian team on 7 previous occasions, winning in 3, drawing twice and losing like them, scoring 3 goals and creating two.
Bad luck
An apparent European failure suffered by Inter last term despite his return to local podiums, and it seems that the chance of compensation will be very difficult this time.
The team will play Czech side Plzen, Bayern Munich and Barcelona in Group C, making chances of failure largely available to coach Simone Inzaghi's men.
Ajax Amsterdam also owns one of Europe's most promising teams, but his signing with Napoli, Liverpool and Rangers makes his fortunes somewhat poor in order to continue in the tournament.
Lucky Ones
Luck is needed for many teams in this draw, the first being Atletico Madrid who will play Porto, Leverkusen and Club Brugge of Belgium in Group A.
As well as Spurs and their Group D outing with Eintracht Frankfurt, Marseille and Sporting Lisbon, the top spot is almost guaranteed to the London team.
Luck seems to have finally smiled for Milan, and the road seems paved towards the round of 16 for his signing with Chelsea, Salzburg and Dynamo Zagreb in Group E.
And finally Real Madrid are champions of the competition, who will undoubtedly qualify through the sixth group in which he signed with Shakhtar, Celtic and Leipzig.
Di Maria Group
Argentine star Angel Di Maria played for Benfica from 2007 to 2010, playing for Paris Saint-Germain from 2015 to 2022.
After leaving the French club with whom he had won several "domestic only" tournaments, he decided to move to Juventus on a free transfer during the current summer transfer window.
All these teams "Benfica, Paris, Juventus" came in one group, the eighth, to be the most suitable title for Di Maria!
Haaland's return. But not alone!
Norwegian star Erling Haaland left Borussia Dortmund this summer, moving back to Manchester City, to face his former side after signing with Dortmund, Copenhagen and Sevilla.
In the same group we will find Sevilla's Jesus Navas also returning to face City, the team he played for from 2013 until 2017 before returning to the Andalusian club.
We will also find Lewandowski with Barcelona against his former team Bayern in Group C, and Olivier Giroud leading Milan's attack against Chelsea in Group E.
In Di Maria's "eighth" group there is also Juventus midfielder Adrian Rabiot, who has already played for Paris, who may face the French team again if he continues with the old lady and does not leave this summer.
Luck abandons Guardiola
As if fate had listened to everyone who disliked Spanish coach Pep Guardiola, accusing him of luck every time he fell into an easy Champions League group.
The team has a very daunting task ahead of a stubborn team like Dortmund as well as Sevilla who possess qualities similar to their German counterparts.
Copenhagen is probably the weaker team everyone expects him to bottom the group, but who comes out with it? Guardiola? We'll see what happens this year!
Single death group
Only Bayern, Inter, Barcelona and Belzen Group will emerge from the competition very early this year.
The first appears to be sealed between Liverpool and Napoli if Ajax does not come to surprise, and the second Atletico Madrid is the closest to their release with Porto and Leverkusen potentially competing for the second seat.
Group D Tottenham is its frontrunner, the fortunes are equal between Marseille, Sporting Lisbon and Frankfurt, and the fifth comes as an opportunity for Milan and Chelsea to overtake Dinamo Zagreb and Salzburg.
Real Madrid are surely the closest with Leipzig and Shakhtar competing for another seat while Celtic come out fourth, and Manchester City with either Sevilla or Dortmund is the closest.
Finally Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus are the predictable scenario for the Group H qualifying duo, with Benfica heading to the Europa League as expected.
Place for Ronaldo
Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo is looking for a participating team to appear with in the Champions League, and there may be some suitable teams away from the big ones that offer him this opportunity to appear in the competition and even skip the group stage as well.
Napoli have been linked with the Portuguese star, and his signing with Ajax, Liverpool and Rangers brings him close to the round of 16, so why doesn't Ronaldo return to Italy after his short spell with Juventus?
Dortmund were one of the clubs that appeared among the candidates to sign the 37-year-old, and the Portuguese coming to the German team would greatly increase his fortune in Group G.
