An exciting experience that feels helpless in PSV!
Many in the past weeks have sat in front of the television screen of us looking for football games during the holidays, led by them for the Champions League qualifiers.
A particular fixture that attracted attention was the Rangers summit with PSV, the Scottish giants colliding with the Dutch Cup champion and league runner-up, the first being coached by Giovanni van Brunkhurst, a former Dutch mill captain who has made a name for himself in training in recent years, and the second to whom his manager did not know was Ruvan NNistelrooy.
Everyone remembers Van Nesterloe as that outstanding striker who carried the shirts of Real Madrid and Manchester United, but let the Nostalgia aside because Van Goal is now 46 and is in his first major team training experience.
Home Training Grades
Van Nistelrooy was not far behind in the training field following his retirement in 2012. In 2014, he joined Gus Headink's coaching staff and continued even after his departure as an assistant with Danny Blind's interim staff.
Van Nistelrooy then decided to work alone and went to his old club PSV Eindhoven where he led the Sunni groups under 17, 18, 19 and 21 from 2016 to 2021, punctuated by another experience with mills as a long-lasting assistant to Frank de Burr.
It's time for adults.
Eindhoven chose to trust his former star and announced last April that he had been appointed as the team's technical director beginning in the new season, as his first experience in leading a senior-level team.
The Dutch star and his country's tradition of applying the all-round ball, and the tempestuous start to his team in the current season, has scored a total of 20 goals in 7 games, including five on Ajax in the domestic super and one in the atmosphere of the league, as well as another treble in Monaco on the continent.
Van Nistelrooy adopts a 4-2-3-1 gameplan with a similar spearhead in style: Luke de Jong returning to BSV again, the moves of promising star Cody Jackpo and Ismail Sabiri, as well as the arrival of Xavi Simmons, the lost talent in Paris and Barcelona, and the quality of Ibrahima sangari in midfield leadership.
The English press quickly drew attention to Nistelrooy's training rise and used his presence in Britain to meet Rangers and asked him about a comparison with his former coach Sir Alex Ferguson, to reply with a laugh: "Oh my God, I hope I'm even one percent of him, a proud moment for me to watch me train."
Early frustration despite a promising start
Despite a strong start to the season, the team's plans to reach the Champions League took a heavy blow by falling to Rangers and losing to a goal in the Netherlands despite an away draw.
The team produced its worst
performances with Nistelrooy in the two Rangers meetings, even in the 2-2 draw it seemed disjointed and did not offer its attacking style, and in the comeback it was better but the naivety of its defence in coming out with the ball cost him a goal that failed to compensate him, to be transformed for the second tournament of the continent, amid the indignation of the Indhoven crowd hitting him with cups!
Van Nistelrooy will find himself in front of an old Europa League opponent when the Gunners face an encounter with so many memories of him and the inconvenience, that the latter's fans have called for the return of Martín Quinn, the famous team defender who has an argument with the Dutchman at the team meeting!
Van Nistelrooy may feel old, but it is a new age in which the last trainer and son of Dirk Kout and Pierre Van Huydonk have become players, so maybe it's time to enjoy the new generation of mills, whether as coaches or the same famous nickname but with new faces!
