A Quick Tour to San Fernando During Cebu Provincial Sports Meet 2023
In my intro blog, I mentioned that I traveled to several places in the entire Cebu Province and Region 7 because of school-related activities. Just this month that the Cebu Provincial Sports Meet was conducted again after the pandemic struck our country. For almost 3 years that school activities were temporarily suspended due to health protocol and social distancing. It was just this school year that face-to-face classes were back to normal. Likewise, school activities started were back. Last March 17 to 19, San Fernando, Cebu successfully hosted the taekwondo and arnis tournament during the Cebu Provincial Sports Meet 2023. As one delegation with Taekwondo athletes, we traveled to San Fernando as the venue of the said sports. So, my dear hive friends, for today's blog, I would like to share or take you on a quick tour of the places within the San Fernando Población. These are the places we've been to while we were there. So, let's go.
San Fernando Town Hall
San Fernando is a second-class municipality in the Cebu province. It is considered a coastal municipality, with 21 barangays. Because of this, seawater products such as fish and shellfish were sold at a reasonably priced in their market. A town west of Pinamungahan, south of Carcar, and north boundary of Naga. Poultry and cement are the two primary goods products in this town. According to legend, it was initially called San Isidro Labrador and was renamed San Fernando in honor of a beloved priest named Fernando
Sports Complex
San Fernando's Sports Complex is just adjacent to San Fernando Municipal Hall. It's a spacious and ideal venue for taekwondo and arnis. It can accommodate more than 10000 people inside.
San Fernando Central School
San Fernando Central School is one of the DepEd Cebu Province Sub Offices. It is our billeting quarters for three days. The school is clean, well-organized, and well-landscaped. Because water is available 24 hours a day, it is perfect for billeting quarters. Each room has its own fully equipped bathroom. The school grounds are wide or spacious, with various cottages inside serving as visitor waiting areas.
Church
Below is the view of San Isidro Labrador Church. It is the Roman Catholic Church of San Fernando, Cebu. It is also considered one of the oldest churches in Cebu Province since it was established during the Spanish time. I was not able to capture the entire view because of the traffic and I'm in hurry. I planned to visit on the third day but we already packed our things earlier since we need to depart from school in the morning.
Market
San Fernando Public Market is also an organized market. It has different sections. Dry goods and wet markets like fish, meat, poultry, vegetables, fruits, and others were displayed in their designated section. Prices of fish and other kinds of seafood were sold at low cost compared to some markets.
That's all for this blog. Thank you for reading and see you in my next blog.
