Sept. 10, 22: Routine, WombPlay, Teaching Prep, Walking, TV, and Games

Honestly, I have to say that I’m somewhat disappointed in and frustrated with myself. Somehow I managed to make it through another entire day without being able to get myself to sit down at the computer…not even to waste time dealing with HashKings, let alone work on the website. 😡 Makes me start reflecting on how old I am already and how much there still is ahead to bring this thing to fruition and start doubting the whole thing altogether. 😢 Only one way to solve it: just get to work. 😤

Slept from about eleven until six thirty, and for some reason (not snoring, for sure - BTW Wenche made it to Norway safely 👍) it was shallow and I was up with a good hour and a half short. Can’t say I didn’t drag in the afternoon, but I at least fought through and didn’t lay down (though I wasn’t very productive either).

Got on with the morning routine and was glad to see even more green in the crypto markets. Not up by much, but it’s certainly better than the alternative. I’ve lost a bit on Polygon against ETH, but they fluctuate, so it wasn’t unexpected. Unfortunately, still losing about three quarters of an ETH on that investment.

Spent an inordinate amount of time messing with Dungeon Master again. I did some more research and found a few more collections that qualify and got some more NFTs to mine iron and grow my mining power a bit. I completed a couple more of the Well of Wealth challenges and got another pack (which I staked for the mining power as well).

Though it isn’t much at this point (only about eighty cents for the season), I’m starting to see a return, but I’m becoming a bit of a slave to it setting an alarm for every five minutes and then every fifteen minutes trying to get the challenges done…might need to back it off a little before I burn myself out on it.

Still, I looked up the Wombatium I got yesterday and it’s worth something like $23! 😯 So, between that, the packs, and the direct treasure contribution I’m just about break even and the additional mining power will add up over time. I feel like I’m putting a lot of money (and time) into it for not a lot of return, but then I recognize that I still own the assets (and can sell them) and it was interest off SPS holdings anyway.

Otherwise, did all the usual morning stuff, but when I went in the claim my WOO interest for the day, I randomly decided to check on the NFT mining. Now, I didn’t really have any hope of getting any tokens since I only have a few common cards staked versus the other people that have all kinds of packs and legendaries and whatever, but I totally got some!!!! 🤑

Shifted around tokens, did some curation, blahdy blah, and then got my post done and shared. I was really nagging at myself to work at that point, but my excuse was that I hadn’t gone out for a walk yet and I didn’t take the dog yesterday, so he needed to go out too…

It was another fantastic day out, but I will admit, it was pretty warm in the sun…I guess it was a bit too warm for the doggy ‘cus he wanted to turn around not even two kilometers in. 😢

Didn’t see very much wildlife out today (although we didn’t make it all the way back to the pond), but this squirrel 🐿 was super angry that the dog thought it would be fun to chase it and sat up in the tree swearing at us! (Bonus points for sonaker finding this no-ping mention).

Got back, had my normal sandwich for lunch and hit the wall hard. My plan was to take a shower and lay down, but dinked around on Discord and Wombat and YouTube and more or less blasted through the afternoon. I did work on some preparation for teaching next week as part of that dinking, so there was a little bit accomplished in there, but not too much.

Oh, that’s right…I watched a video about electric cars and wasted a shitton of time shopping for a new car that I’m not likely to buy since my hybrid is fine. They’re really improving now and the Bolt has over two hundred miles of range…certainly more than enough for my drive to work and back and then charge overnight.

I would have liked to go full electric when I was in the market for a new car more or less out of necessity, but the hybrid seemed like the only real sensible option at the time between lack of range and lack of charging stations (they have them at work now…not sure if they’re free or what, but could probably charge there as well).

Seems like I could possibly trade mine in and use that as a down payment…but ultimately I’d still be paying for the electricity and the car, so probably not saving any money versus the gas/electric car I already have. 🤔 Certainly got me thinking, though…you can just plug them in to a standard outlet now (don’t need any kind of special charging station - except Tesla) and I have a breaker box, 240, right out there in the garage, so it would be super easy and pretty fast (fast enough for anything I’d need on a general basis).

Finally got my shower and then started thinking about dinner. Did the dishes in the sink so I had clean stuff to use, and decided to make some pasta with fried ham. Was quite good, if not simple.

That was basically it for the day. I got ready for bed and put on a horror movie and played some Splinterlands. Got about half way through the movie and it was just too stupid to keep watching, so I switched over to an animated show (but I can’t remember which one) and fell asleep before too long.

I suppose there isn’t really much reason to expect that dShitty is going to change at all. My stated income actually went up, which is surprising, but of course they found an excuse to take some of it back.

Ran the usual mission on Rising Star in the morning and actually remembered to go back in later on. My energy hadn’t refilled, though, so I did one of the lower missions. I have a feeling that my Ego has started growing, but for now I’ve got drunk fans and can’t really tell, so just keeping on with missions and trying not to look at how far away I am still from even half way to millionaire (and still fourteen levels to unlock the next mission)…🤬

Like I said, I still haven’t dealt with HashKings. 🤬🤬 Turns waiting six days into that much more…can’t say I’ve gotten much (if any) pleasure from this, more just a hassle that I have to feel bad about not taking care of. Might be time to see if I can get my initial investment back (seems unlikely, but I’m probably just being negative).

Played some Splinterlands this evening and made some solid progress into Gold II. Unfortunately, I accidentally closed out the popup before I got my picture. 😢 With four days left, I’m still hanging onto a sliver of hope for making it to Diamond and avoiding being reset to Silver again.

Got six chests for my Focus rewards today and, of course, most of them were stupid potions. 😡🤬 I got a couple cards and a bit of SPS, though, so I suppose that’s something:

I went back and reread the tower defense announcement and realized that the packs are being sold starting in about a week or so for 5000 DEC and a voucher (or credits), not for SPS. I suppose it is possible to buy credits with SPS, but I’m thinking it might be smarter to swap.

I am already sitting on quite a bit of DEC in game (the hoard saved from the last year minus some cards that I’ve been buying on the cheap from time to time), and I’m not really sure how many packs it will take to earn any kind of decent return. 🤷 I guess the more cards you have the more you can earn since earnings are bound to the cards and not the account, but not certain how hard to go into this (especially since I’ve been going hard into WAX and that stuff lately already anyway).

It sounds like you might have to pay SPS and/or DEC to play it, which would piss me off, for reals, but that might only be for boosts or shortening time or something, not sure.

Claimed my interest for the day, but as you can tell from what I’ve just said, I’m kind of frozen in indecision at this point, so I just left it liquid, as is, for now.
