Nov. 5, 21: Routine, Oculus, Garage Putzing, and Games
I got up around five, which again, has been fairly regular…but what’s also been regular is being about an hour or so short on sleep. Been dragging really hard and didn’t even make it to the afternoon today.
Got up and did the usual morning routine. I guess the only added fun today was that
we’re still under a boil water advisory, so I had to cook us some water to use for the animals and to brush our teeth. Just been holding off on doing the dishes until the advisory is lifted (hopefully some time tomorrow).
I got my post done for the day, posted it and shared and I hit the wall. Couldn’t even muster the desire to play Oculus at that point. I put some Paradise PD on the TV and got a bit of a cat nap, not quite even an hour, but I do think I was out for a few.
Got up again and had some lunch. Still felt pretty crappy, and I did set the solid goal for myself to get the Model A oil pump put back together, so struggled with myself for a while. Ended up defeating myself and pulled out the Oculus.
I played a round or two of Beat Saber and got new high scores and got the blood flowing again. It had been six days since I’d played Resident Evil 4 (was kind of delaying gratification) and I made it to the next chapter. Wasted a ton of ammo holding off a badass in close quarters waiting for an elevator to come, so I’m a little worried about it going into the next level.
Now I’m in a circular room with two giant, invincible badasses and I have to trigger a switch when they’re directly over the center of the room. I got one of them and then got killed by the second one. 😡
Having satisfied my procrastination and woken up a bit, I finally bit the bullet, changed into putzing clothes, and went out to work on the pump. There was still some work to do to get it cleaned up properly, and I used the air compressor to blow out the rest of the gunk from the filter.
I sprayed some more penetrating oil down in there, swirled it around and let it sit for a little while. I couldn’t help but try and rotate the engine again and there’s still grinding…opened up the flywheel cover and looked in there, but couldn’t see. Took some compressed air and tried to blow down in there and a few pieces of leaf and a couple maple keys came out. 😡 That’s what I thought it sounded like in there, but I’m still not sure that’s the only issue.
I tried using the leaf blower to blow it out from both sides, but didn’t really see anything else come out…there’s still stuff in there, though, I’m sure, and I don’t know how to get it out. 😢
I was still waiting on the penetrating oil and I didn’t want to keep spinning the engine without oil (it’s making a singing noise, which isn’t great), so I loaded up the metal in the car. Very happy to say that it was the last load! I finally have that side of the garage back; can hang up the ladder that’s been trapped behind there, put the siding piece up in the rafters and I’ve got wide open space for once!!! 🤩🥳
Went back to working on the oil pump, dumped it out and then blew it out as well. Then, put on the new gasket, found a replacement lockwasher, and put her all back together. 💪
Surfaces look good; there was some pitting on the gears ⚙️ but it wasn’t anything catastrophic and should be alright going forward, I mean, it’s going to be submerged in oil before too long.
Nice and shiny and spinning well. 👍
Just a reminder of what the pump looked like before, right after I freed it from the engine (but after some of the sludge had already fallen off):
And here’s what she looks like now! I’m happy to say that that’s been restored, brand new gasket and all:
Wenche got home round about then and she made us some pancakes for dinner and then I still had more than two thousand steps left to go for the day so I marched in place while we watched a movie…struggling to remember now, needless to say I didn’t make it too long after I got my steps done and laid down.
At this point I’m kinda’ lost…forty-eight minus two equals forty-five sounds like some solid dShitty math, but now the income says forty-one, so I guess I’m happy that I got more than I should have (but I don’t really think I did).
How many days and how many ways can I say that CryptoBrewmaster sucks balls, and not in a good way? Well, here’s at least one more. I think their shittoken would have been dumped on and made shittier and the market would have let them know how it felt about their bullshit, but they made sure that wasn’t possible (put their fingers in their ears - la la la…)
Having to log in twice every time on Rising Star again…now, not only do I have to type out the whole stupid web address and then my full username, but I have to enter my username twice to get it to function. 🤬 It does seem that my Ego has come back down to a manageable level.
Played out my Splinterlands quest in the evening. Not too bad today; made a little progress in the ranks.
I got Sneak quest again for the second day. I considered switching, but it is nice to have a little more flexibility as far as what splinter to use. Got a couple more cards:
Went in to the market and got a couple more of the Pelacore Mercenary and I spent my vouchers and today’s SPS airdrop (well, some of it) on some more presale packs. Got seventy-five now, so pretty sure I could have gotten the ten extra. Oh, well.
