Mar. 26, 22: Routine, Oculus, Brawl Fail, Taxes, TV, and Games

I slept in all the way until six this morning! 🥳 Unfortunately, I was late to bed again last night and still ended up an hour short. 😡 I dragged hard in the afternoon, but fought through it and got some work done. 👍

Did all the usual morning routine and was pleased to find cryptos showing more green. BTC has been approaching the resistance at $45k and it’s a bit scary…we’ve been rejected there four times already, another would likely mean an even more protracted bearish trend. ETH has been rising faster then MATIC and BAL, so of course, I’m losing even more on Polygon…it’s a daily painful frustration that only seems to get worse. 🤬😭

Otherwise, not too much interesting, chatted on Discord, played with Tatsu, got caught up with pings, hit the faucets, checked the SOL market, staked up tokens, and played my Wordle, Quordle, Octordle, and today for the first time: Sedecordle! I got it too! Sixteen at the same time!!! 🤓

Worked on my post, got it posted and shared, and then since Wenche was working today, I had some time to jump into VR for a bit. I kinda’ wasn’t feeling like Onogoro this time, so I went back in to grind some Zenith.

Was frustrated, though. The enemies in the area I need to go to complete the story quest are way too strong for me. 😡 I’ve leveled up basically all of my gear, so my defense is alright, but I haven’t been able to improve my lame little weapons.

I did a bunch of grinding enemies to get the ingredients I needed to make an appropriate level weapon, but when I tried to craft it the crafting machine was glitched…it wasn’t just me either, other people in the server were having the same problem. 🤬

It’s one thing to play a free beta and have some janky things. It’s completely another to pay for a production game and have it glitch to the point of preventing further progress. 🤬🤬🤬 Basically had no choice but to quit; couldn’t move forward without a better weapon and couldn’t get a better weapon because of shitty programming. I suppose, to a degree, it was alright since I needed to get some lunch and get to work.

And that is precisely what I did! Unfortunately, I went into Discord and got a ping that I missed entering my brawl battles. 🤬🤬🤬🤬 Faaaack! I really felt terrible about it, so stupid, and particularly embarrassing after throwing a tantrum last time. 😭 Even more annoying was that I had thought about doing it last night (and thought how awful and embarrassing it would be if I forgot). 😡🤬

Anyway, I had spent some time the other day getting started on the taxes, but got stymied at the crypto part…it took a shitload longer than I thought it would and there were a couple transactions that I’d failed to record and had to go digging through CB reports back to 2019.

I did get it all straightened and accounted for all the short and long transactions, so hopefully someday I’ll be able to get some value back out into fiat (or even better not have to). Of course, once all that’s done, I get to do it all over again for the state. 🤬😡🤬😡

The federal taxes don’t charge for long term capital gains (since I’m poor enough to qualify), but the state doesn’t care and charged me outright on tens of thousands of dollars of “income” that I don’t really have, fucking assholes. Plus, I charged myself income tax on all the FIRE income (which was all a huge loss - but currently unrealized)…not to mention that they’re just going to fucking use it to kill brown people anyway. What a fucked up “civilization.”

I took a break and grabbed a leftover chicken wrap for dinner and then went back to work. I did get everything done, checks written (we ended up owing on both 🤬🤬), and all ready to mail in Monday morning. It took the entire afternoon and evening, though, and it was well past eight before I was done.

At least that done and off my shoulders. Even better, all the piles of “to do” papers on the kitchen table cluttering my computer workspace is gone. Only thing staring at me now is the computer itself…calling to me work.

I tried to play my Splinterlands quest, but it was just OP enemy after OP rented deck, and I didn’t have the patience to watch more than five out of six losing matches.

I’d been sitting pretty much the entire day, so I had nearly four thousand steps left for the day. I did some laps for a bit, but full disclosure, the last few thousand were total cheating, and it was late again before I got to bed.

We got General crime and a pandemic in dShitty, but that’s just the same old, everyday shittiness. What’s unusual is that my stated income and actual income agree for once and are both above zero! 😮 They must have broken it with the last maintenance. 😛

Pretty much just a one mission day again on Rising Star as far as I can recall. The temporary drunks did expire and I was at zero Ego for a bit, but they’re back again.

I do have quite a stockpile of Starbits saved up there…been saying I need to do something with them for a while; probably just end up getting another card for some unknown reason.

Not much going on with HashKings, just waiting out the clock again. I realize each morning when I do this section of my post that I forgot again to enter the Raid; sucks that mobile is busted. 😢

Thinking I should probably get a water tower. I’m sustainable as far as seeds (two per week for my two plots), but I’ve been using the initial stock of water I bought when I started. I still have plenty, but it’s draining out nevertheless. If I can produce about 1900 water a week, then I would be self-sufficient. 🤔

Like I said, it was well past eight, pushing eight thirty before I finally finished the taxes, so I really didn’t have the desire to play…plus it was soured by how bad I felt about missing the brawl and I played a couple battles (just losing over and over) and rage quit until the morning.

I did, however, actually go back in and finish it up in time!

Had Water splinter for my quest today and despite bouncing around some, I got it done closer to Diamond II. Still four days left in the season, so it is possible. 🤞

Pretty solid rewards today! Got a few cards, some DEC, and another pack:

Now I would usually just open the pack immediately, and I was very tempted, but I’m going to try something different this time. I have the feeling that hanging onto the pack as is will count for more airdrop points than the cards will as deck power. 🤔 I mean, I still have the pack and can just open it whenever, but having a boost to my drop would help!

Speaking of which, I staked my SPS for today and the drop was less by yet another two. 😭 (hence the attempt to try and recover with the pack). Vouchers were up a little, but still haven’t sold.
