Mar. 10, 23: Routine, Taxes, Quest, TV, and Games

Although I didn't get to sleep until nearly ten last night and the snoring and the cat howling had me up several times during the night, not only did I make it through the whole night in bed, I slept all the way until seven for about nine and a half hours! 👏🥳 While I did drag a little, I made it through the day without crashing at all and even got a little bit done. 😀

Sleeping in until seven does put a little crunch on the morning routine time, but I did most of the usual stuff, just had to cut chatting a little short and though I did do some significant token shifting and staking, I didn't get either my nor Solairitas' wallets totally cleaned up.

I guess one noteworthy thing was that my back decided to pinch a nerve. Quite strange, it's much higher up this time than it usually is, like in the center of my back...a hot knife poking into my lung every time I take a breath...good times. I made it through the day without taking painkillers (just being in pain) but I did take some before bedtime to hopefully help me sleep.

Of course, I had to check on the crypto markets. Seems like HIVE said fuck $.35, I'm going to $.3, maybe lower...there's a blazingly obvious reason that people like me aren't stepping in to buy the dip (ahem, DV assholes), so as I said before, I don't see that it has a bottom right now. 😡

To be fair, there's broader issues at stake...I guess Elizabeth Warren decided to Tweet that Silicon Valley Bank was insolvent (and blamed it on crypto and ties to FTX) which caused a run on the bank exposing the wider, systemic risk of the bond purchases banks have made which they're now under water on...might be looking at another 2008 again (but "bail-ins" instead of bail-outs this time - it's going to be your money they use - get out now!) Yes, that is financial advice...you should have gotten out like ten years ago. Hodling Bitcoin is easy when you don't want their paper.

We got a pretty decent dump of snow overnight, and village ordinances don't give a shit about my back, so I went out and shoveled off the front sidewalk. A lot of it was already melting, though, so I didn't bother with our walks or the driveway. I did feel bad, though, that the doggy was up to his eyeballs in it just trying to pee, so I shoveled him a path out back again as well and left all the rest to melt.

I did do some solid thinking about the Mythix forging mechanism and I'm thinking it's pretty cool. Still have some details to work out, but I'm happy with the way the concept is progressing...fixing some probabilities and then letting players use MTX to tweak them in their favor. I'm a little worried that I'm designing a coding nightmare for myself, but it might not be that bad actually (part of the details that still need to be worked out). [No, that's not actually working on the website, but it is working on the design and stuff, so that's working at least. 😊]

I'm pretty sure I played a bit of Star Wars PinballVR, but I'm actually a little fuzzy there, that might have been the day before. 🤔 Either way, I didn't spend too much time at it, since my primary goal for the day was to finish with the taxes.

That turned into way more of an epic saga than it ever needed to be. 😡 Right, so I start with the f1040. I go to the IRS site and download the form and then save a local copy...so far so good.

I'd tried to fight the laptop to work on it, but gave up on it already, so was zooming in and out and dealing with the peculiarities of working on the phone, but after losing my work several times, I finally got it to save/overwrite with my data entered and things seemed to be progressing.

Now, strictly speaking, that should have been the end of that story, and onto the state taxes we go, but nooooo. Did I receive any rewards of digital assets this year? Coinbase says yes, I got a whopping thirteen dollars in interest income and had a capital loss of five dollars...so check the box and now I'm on the hook to fill out a Schedule D and an 8949 listing, in detail, all six trades (really just two sells, but FIFO) for a five dollar loss. 🤬🤬

At the end of all that, turns out we owe. 😡🤬 That requires yet another form 1040V to pay them by check...fine, bullshit managed, now for the state taxes. (We have layers on layers of leeches here: village, township, state, and federal...land of the "free" - but it'll cost ya'!)

The state was relatively less work and only required two forms. We ended up getting some back on this one, more than we ended up oweing on the federal, so we're getting some back on balance (of the money they already stole from us through collusion with our employers).

Awesome, taxes were all done, I actually accomplished something, now they just needed to be printed out and sent. Oh, but wait a dang minute there, buddy, you know it's not going to be that easy, don't you?!

I went to print the forms out, and it happily printed...a blank form. 😭🤬😠 I tried several different ways to get it to print, tried opening the files with another program, but no, just blank. I have a feeling it's something to do with my 365 license (or lack thereof) but whatever the reason I got to print them all out blank and redo the whole ordeal by fucking hand. 🤬

Like I said, way more of an epic struggle than it ever needed to be, but I guess that's the price I pay for "society," having tacitly signed the ol' "social contract." I did, eventually, get them completed and sealed up and ready to go, so I did achieve a goal for once...but I'm looking back at a week off and seeing taxes was more or less the only thing I got done. 😡😤

I got the oven started warming up and grabbed a shower and when Wenche finished with work we made personal pizzas for dinner (we only had two tortillas left 😂). 😋

To tell you the truth, I'm not exactly sure where the rest of the evening went. I know she had some Carnival Row on, but I was chatting and playing games and not really paying attention to that.

I did some marching in place, but had a way to go to finish my steps and I actually passed out cheating. Luckily, though, I woke up when Wenche got ready for bed and realized I hadn't finished. I moved around a little, but full disclosure, today's step goal was not completely legit.

[Woah! Eighteen hundred words today and I'm an hour early?! Amazing! Maybe I can get a little something something done before the Pizza events start this morning. 😁 Ooh, and I even added a couple more game sections. 👍]

Splinterlands:
Soooo, I think I figured out what was going on with my Splinterlands rental income. I still don't quite understand what's going on (at least in terms of how much DEC I have to maintain in my balance for it to function or not), but it looks like the rentals had been disabled for the last three or four days. 😨

That explains why I wasn't getting any invoices and why the income showed as 0/0. I guess the DEC still coming in is what had confused me (made me think it was still going), but it seems like that was coming from rentals outstanding from before.

Anyway, they released a bug patch but you had to opt into it, that's when I realized that it wasn't enabled, so I turned it back on, with the fix, and it seems to be working again.

Like I said, I'm still not totally clear what happened or what the fix is doing, but I'm not going to fret too bad about it as long as the DEC keeps flowing, and I got a dollar forty for today. 👍

Claimed my SPS interest for the day, but I still had some prepay balance left, so I didn't need to pay the rental fee, and since I'd pulled the hundred out yesterday, I just staked it all.

Seems like my dShitty income is continuing to improve, looking at thirty-eight SIM and .03 HIVE! 🤑 Now, that's not massive by any stretch, but it's not pointless any more, so that's awesome.

I think it's been like three days in a row now of drunk fans, even had drunks on top of drunks. 🤬 I did go in an extra time today, but my Energy hadn't quite recovered enough to run the mission and I figured my Ego would be nonzero once the drunks expired, so I ran a lesson to get ahead of it. Now the drunks are gone and my Ego is back to zero, back to missions it is. (🎶 You spin me right round, baby, right round, like a [broken] record, baby, right round round round 🎶)

Not exactly sure where it came from...maybe Pizza giveaways? I don't know, but I got like four or five hundred more BUDS than the old picture was showing, so significant enough a change to warrant a brand new one. 😜

Well, looks like they did even more work on the UI over here. The site still seems to run pretty smoothly, though, credit where credit is due.

One change that did give me pause was that they now show the ending of the stake rewards...guess I kind of took those stake rewards for granted. That made me think I'd probably better stake while the staking's good and I didn't pull any out today. Hurts a little presently, though, since I plowed through most of my liquid today. 😵

WOO:
I'm in a bit of a holding pattern with this at the moment, just letting that balance grow as much as I can between now and the alpha launch. Got my stake and delegation rewards as well as the airdrop, but no mining rewards again for today.

CCCEO:
I'd saved up a bit of liquid HIVE and was on a bit of a buying spree and it had been a while since I'd made a move to increase my CCPower and make progress toward holding nine SQM for Solairitas, so even though I could have gotten it cheaper through the holders special sale, I decided to go in and snag some off the market properly. Got about one and a half left to go before we can get a three by three plot. 💪

Not exactly sure what came over me, but I was on a tear buying PIMP and SQM and it had been a while also with this one, so I got five more HIVE worth of ASTRA staked up. They are very actively involved with PIMP and seem to be straight up guys working hard, so I don't feel too bad about putting in a bit more.
