Jan. 5, 22: Routine, PIMP Meeting, HiveJS Research, TV, and Games
Despite the cat and the snoring, I made it through till nearly five thirty this morning and clocked a solid eight hours of sleep! šš I was even motivated to work on the website today (or at least try), but once again I didnāt get very far.
Did the usual morning routine and cryptos are still looking scary. Freebitco.in did come back and so did Metamask, so my finger crossing definitely worked. š Iām getting nervous again about my DeFi position and went in to back it off a bit more, but as has been the case the last several days, the gas fees were insane!
Apparently thereās a new NFT game Sunflower Farmer that was released on Polygon that has a chain interaction for basically every single thing you do in the game. It does expose a scaling vulnerability as well, which worries me a little; if one game can mess things up this badly, what about ten or a hundred?! The whole draw of layer two is low fees, when transactions are costing fifty cents to a dollar each, sure itās still a shitton better than ETH fees, but it kind of defeats the idea and stifles my willingness/ability to interact with the chain.
44tps really isnāt enough throughput to handle any sort of mass adoption. Still, the chain didnāt crash or anything, as have several others when such games have been released, and Iām staying confident that these sorts of growing pains will be overcomeā¦Iām hoping that weāre not just going to have to wait for ZK rollups.
Did my post and all that normal stuff I do every day, with the addition of scrubbing and treating my feet. Still on with that, been several weeks now and while it has gotten muuuuch better, I am getting a bit frustrated that the progress seems to have plateaued. I suppose itās at this point that itās most critical that I remain vigilant about it.
Headed over to the weekly PIMP meeting in The Alliance Discord. Donāt think we decided on too muchā¦most of us are just baffled by the tokens weāre getting from pools and such that have no explanation and nobody knows what they are. I think weāre going harder into ARCHON, but I think weāre waiting for some sell orders to clear before pimptoken starts to be able to build some more.
Speaking of which, got #PYPT coming up and really want to do a Solairitas Updateā¦started thinking about it and the blood pressure went through the roof. Got to break these mental barriers I keep putting in front of myself. š” Anyway, thatās another excuse not to sit down and do any programming, right? šš
Speaking of which, I tried digging into the Hive developer docs, and man, they remain in a sorry, disjointed, unfinished, and indecipherable state! I remember the pain of trying to go through the tutorials when I tried a few years ago and figured that work had been done on it since thenā¦weāll, yes, it has in a couple places, but the tutorials about HiveJS, for example then require hived or hive-tx and none of the calls are consistent from page to page and the vast majority have zero description of what the function even does or any explanation of the syntax. A couple do, but most donāt. I think Iāve already overcome the additional WordPress layer complication, but just making a simple call with the current version of the code? I have almost zero idea. š¤¬ I was just going to grab my old code (and I still probably will), but I have no idea if it still works or not, there have been several forks in between.
Other than researching and getting myself tied in knots, I played about an hour or so of Song in the Smoke after I grabbed my lunch. Iād tried three different times now and utter failed to get myself established in the next area. This time, I decided to just book it around as much of the map as I could before worrying about setting up a base camp. Luckily, at the far end of the map I did find a cave where I could keep a fire lit and was raised up safely away from that bear thing.
Having a camp meant that I could take care of my tiredness and cold and, more importantly, save my progress! I found the three quest stones in the area and voilĆ there was a magic bow that appeared that can damage the bastard! š I hit him a couple of times, but havenāt defeated him yetā¦have a feeling Iām getting pretty close to the end, this has a sort of āfinal bossā battle vibe to it.
To be honest, looking through those docs and getting even more confused pretty much defeated me. Instead of trying anything (since I donāt have a clear idea of what to try), I plopped in front of the tube and watched the final episode of Marianne. Was a good series, sad that itās over.
When Wenche got home she made us an omelette for dinner and we watched the last episode of the new season of Cobra Kai. That went fast, for real! We switched over and watched a little Loudermilk and I fell asleep pretty early.
Oooookay, then! The dShitty shitpipe opener-upper woke up from his nap!!! My Bank got robbed and there were, count them, three crises today. š¤£ Canāt say I didnāt see it coming.
Busted through quite a few lessons on Rising Star today. I have reduced my Ego by a couple of percentage points, but still have a way to go. I went in and bought more guitars, which are supposed to help, but they didnāt have any effect for some reason, still at nine to eighteen.
Played quite a bit of Splinterlands in the evening as well. Iām happy to say that I think I may be back on pace to get into Diamond this season! Iām not getting overly confident yet, but it would be nice not to be reset so far back.
Despite a few small setbacks, I did quite well and made it into Gold II:
I got Dragon splinter for my quest today, which was helpful, and I got it done up in the new tier:
Even though the price of packs remains quite high in terms of SPS, I did decide to use half of my drop from today to get some more. I suppose it was as much an experiment just to do it as it was hoping for any good cards. Nothing great, but I did get another summoner:
I also pulled the trigger and sold a few vouchers, only ten percent of what I have there, but then used the funds to get some more PIMP for solairitas. āļø

I was really hoping that FitBit would stop trying to rip me off two days from my streak, but it seems that itās going to persist. š Iām thinking that it bugs me enough that my numbers disagree to just let those two days go.
