Jan. 24, 22: Routine, Teaching, TV, and Games

Fell asleep pretty early last night. Dune just did not hold my attention. But I didn’t quite make it through and was up about quarter past four. Only ended up about twenty minutes short, and I didn’t feel too tired today, so close enough.

Did the usual morning routine and was shattered to find my DeFi position dangerously close to liquidation. I’d decided to leave it alone in the hope that we’d recover, but I was way too close to leave it this time! 😱 Went to withdraw and the transaction fees were insane again, to the point that I didn’t even have enough liquid to pay for one, let alone at least two trxs to pay the loan back! 🤬

That put me into absolute panic/despair mode! I was able to wait for the fees to decline to the point that I could get the payback done and bit the bullet and paid the crazy fees. 😭 First, though, I claimed the interest and kept it as liquid so I don’t keep getting pinned like that…would prefer that the fees weren’t stupid high, though, especially considering that was the whole point of Polygon in the first place.

That also means that I’m not earning nearly as much interest as I was and, on top of that, lost .1 against ETH again, so still struggling to make back what I lost on FIRE (which is now a whopping $.03 per billion 😭).

Speaking of FIRE, that was the big hype for a while in the Man Cave…it is what it is, but such a hard loss did put me off any other punts that were suggested over there. I’d been considering just accepting that it isn’t fun or positive in there really anymore and even very simple suggestions are brushed off as having no priority, so I finally gave up and left. Spending that time in Pizza server is way more productive.

Speaking of which, I won one of the giveaways in there today! 🥳 Got fifty more 1UP tokens to help build Solairitas’ stake! 😄 Got a bit more PIZZA as well from airdrops and stuff, but I’ve just left those in tipCC for now.

Other than that, just the usual stuff. Went over and did a little market action on H-E and shifted around some tokens, did some curation, checked on the SOL market, and then worked on my post.

I’m still not too confident about the post schedule function on PeakD (it seems to work but often a minute or more late which messes with the brofund bot - which remains a consistent aggravation), so I was naughty and published it while I was driving in to work. 🤫

Left a bit early and got gas, but the roads were a little rough and I took it pretty slow. Still, not bad, got there with about fifteen minutes to spare. Taught my Algebra class and then had an hour break. Didn’t do much, just grabbed my sandwich and had a smoke.

Taught my Calculus class and then headed back home. Didn’t let them out early of either class today, we filled the whole time. I feel like I went kind of fast in Calculus, but we are more or less just reviewing Algebra and started into Trigonometry review, so it should be mostly old information. The drive home was somewhat smoother and I got home round about the time Wenche finished work.

She wasn’t feeling well, so she worked from home today, and I just grabbed some cereal for dinner since we weren’t up for making anything proper (and we had leftovers as an option as well anyway). Since we’d had two classes now, I needed to report attendance for their financial aid and remembered to get that done in the evening.

That was basically it for the day, just watched some TV and played Splinterlands until bedtime. I did take some painkillers in the morning, and my back did bother me a little still, but it’s definitely better than it was. Otherwise, glad to have had a busy day. 👍

What, what? I don’t know what’s up with dShitty today. My income actually went up. 😯 No crime or crises or nuttin’! My stated income is still only nineteen, so I totally don’t get why it was “so much,” but hooray I guess.

Didn’t get much done on Rising Star today. Honestly, I kinda’ forgot about it and I think I only managed the one mission in the morning. I have started receiving a bit extra Starbits from the PIZZA pool, so we’ll see if I can use that to boost my progress or not. At least the drunks have stopped, so I am getting the max possible income for my missions right now.

Played my Splinterlands quest in the evening while we watched TV, as usual. Started off a bit rough, but didn’t end up being that bad. I lost out of Gold I, but got it back pretty quickly and forged ahead a little. 👍

I got Fire splinter for my quest today, but thought it might pose more of a challenge than I was up for, so I rolled the dice. Got Death splinter instead; not my strongest deck, but it’s alright. Got it done in Gold I and a few more cards get eaten:

Still not feeling packs being so expensive in terms of SPS, so just the usual claim and stake. I’d sold some more of my vouchers and tried out the PIZZA pool, liked it, and so used some more of the funds to get some more tokens. 🤑 I’m still not seriously hard in, only like $20 altogether in that one, but thinking of going even harder considering LP rewards should start soon. Got a few vouchers left to sell, so I’m thinking I might sell them for whatever they’re worth at the moment and hope that putting those funds to work was the wise decision.
