Dec. 16, 22: Routine, Grading, Quest, TV, and Games

[I still have the official Algebra grades to finish and report (slacker) today and the third place World Cup match at ten, and I should probably get into town to do some Christmas shopping as well…but despite all appearances to the contrary, the stress level is actually significantly lower this morning than it has been lately. 👍]

Man, once again my sleep was super shallow and I was basically awake for most of the night. 😢 As is typical after a late class, it took me a while to simmadownna and I didn’t get to sleep until around ten thirty. Got up slightly before seven but ended up a good hour short of my eight hour goal again. I did make it through the day without crashing, but I dragged somewhat, for sure.

Got on with the usual morning routine and can’t really think of anything particular to note. Just did all the normal stuff I do in the morning and then got to work on my post.

I was in that blah state where basically everything has lost its luster and wasn’t feeling like putting in the time to do a post, but I started into it and got a decent one done in the end. Got it published and shared and then turned toward my singular goal for the day: get the Algebra grades done.

To be honest, grading the finals was harsh…all I could think was: most of these guys really shouldn’t pass, but since I made the class too easy they probably will. It’s one thing not to know how to solve a problem, it’s another to insist on making the same mistakes I’ve explicitly and repeatedly told them not to. 😡🤬 (a+b)^2 is NOT a^2+b^2, for fuck’s sake, how many times did I say that this semester?!

Anyway, I got the Finals graded and entered them into the system, and all I have left is the homework, but ConnectMath is a complete bitch to use and gives me very little control…it’s splitting all the homework into different categories, so I can’t get a single grade for it and have to figure out how to improvise it (while being fair). I was dragging, though, and my brain felt fried, so I got my sandwich for lunch and laid down to hopefully take a nap.

I put on a movie: Among the Gods: The Two Worlds, a Korean (I think) fantasy movie about a firefighter who dies and goes through seven trials in the afterlife to be reincarnated. I don’t know why Asian movies are so much better than American ones when it comes to storytelling and special effects…they were pretty much nonstop (unlike one White Stag summon in an entire movie…woooh)! Unfortunately, I suppose, it was really fun and totally kept me awake…there’s a sequel as well! 😁😁

Once the movie finished I tried to convince myself to finish the grades so that tomorrow would be free and it wouldn’t still be hanging over my head, but the temptation to play Quest was too great…new controller means I can play FPSes again! 👍🤩

It felt a little weird, to be honest, kind of felt sort of betrayed in a way…I bought Into the Radius today and I guess being a Beta tester and having played and given them feedback, etcetera, when they launched they blocked us out and we had to pay for it. It wasn’t unfair or anything, I got to play early, but still, feelings are feelings.

Made it through the intro bit and did the first mission and then Wenche got home from work and I quit out. So far everything is just repeating what I’d already done, but I’m looking forward to seeing how it goes; the inventory system is probably my favorite of any game (you can put items anywhere in your backpack).

She made us pasta and meat sauce for dinner and then we watched about half of another Asian movie: The Big 4. It was pretty good, but extremely violent, and I figured she wasn’t all that into it and we switched over to a Marvel series: Inhumans until I fell asleep.

Honestly, at this point, dShitty isn’t even quirky funny, it’s just straight up fuckery. I’m seriously considering just lumping all of the “games” into one section; they no longer deserve their own. Since there is literally no reason to pay attention to this anymore (just not paying out anything), I’m also seriously considering just trying to dump it all off (if there’s any other sucker out there that will buy these cards).

Rising Star is pretty lame as well and I have to ask myself: does saying I ran a mission or a lesson and back and forth every day with little to no progress to show for it worth a section of my post every day? In some sense am I not promoting these things by being involved and paying them lip service?! At least I could log in today.

If yesterday’s Splinterlands income was low, today said “hold my beer.” Down all the way to $1.1…$5 a day would have felt pretty good, I think, but that wasn’t ever going to happen, I guess…you’d think the “interest” on like thirty grand would be a bit better than that. 😡 Wouldn’t I be better off liquidating and sitting on HBD at twenty percent?

Claimed my SPS interest for the day and paid the rental fee, which for once was lowered, only like four SPS, and left the rest liquid to pull out. I’m ready now, but not sure if I’m willing to take the current price. 🤔

There was a pack opening event on Pizza Server this evening…really thought about attending, but to be honest, I’m not even interested in free stuff for this, so I chose not to…it’s the free avatars that got me involved with this in the first place.

GLX:
I made the mistake of checking the market yesterday and I’m scared to look now…whatever it’s worth, it’s more than the zero I would have otherwise, right? I haven’t put anything into this one, so nothing to resent, just not as fun as it was when it was a couple dollars a day worth.

WOO! Don’t know what happened here, but got a super good claim today. 🤷 Pretty sure the claim went through yesterday, but maybe not. Also got a bit more staked from airdrops as well. 🤑
