Esa derrota afectó claramente al Real Madrid, pero todavía hay posibilidades de clasificarse para la siguiente ronda si derrota al PSG en el próximo partido que se jugará en Madrid. En lo que respecta a la liga nacional, el Real Madrid lleva varios meses en la primera posición con el Sevilla muy cerca. Han comenzado a mostrar algunas debilidades en las últimas semanas y creo que esto se debe principalmente a la falta de rotación del entrenador.

¿Cómo estuvo el partido?
Como era de esperar, fue el Real Madrid el equipo que tomó la iniciativa a la hora de realizar jugadas de ataque. Sin embargo, aunque pudo acercarse al área del Alavés, a los madrileños les costó crear peligro. En varios pases largos, los delanteros solían ser pillados en fuera de juego, y cuando el balón entraba en el área, solía ser con centros ineficaces.
Vinicius no era tan peligroso como hace unas semanas y, como todo el equipo, parece estar pasando por un momento de bajo rendimiento. Esto probablemente sea temporal, por lo que no debería haber ninguna razón para alarmarse todavía.
That defeat clearly affected Real Madrid, but there are still chances to qualify for the next round if they defeat PSG in the next match which will be played in Madrid. When it comes to the national league, Real Madrid has been in the first position for several months with Sevilla closely behind. They have started to show some weaknesses in the past weeks and I think this is mainly due to the lack of rotation from the coach.
However, despite their reduced performance, they have been able to remain in the first position and before this match started they had a 4 point advantage over Sevilla. The rest of the top positions, from #3 one to #7, are more than 10 points behind so they are all trying to compete so far for the Champions League spot, meaning positions #3 and #4. Sevilla and Real Madrid appear to be competing for the #1 position.
The league has been very exciting with so many clubs trying to take advantage of Barcelona's and Atletico Madrid's low performance, and time will tell if either of those 2 teams ends up out of the Champions League next season. If one of them ends up out, that will mean a major crisis inside the club because they are both used to playing the Champions League year after year, especially Barcelona.
How was the match?
As expected, it was Real Madrid the team that took the initiative when it came to attacking plays. However, even though they were able to approach Alaves' area, Madrid's players were having a hard time creating danger. In several long passes, the strikers were often caught in offside, and when the ball entered the area, it was usually with ineffective crosses.
Vinicius wasn't as dangerous as several weeks before, and like the entire team, he seems to be going through a period of lower performance. This is probably temporary so there shouldn't be any reason to get alarmed as of yet.
La primera parte no fue muy emocionante, no hubo jugadas de gran calidad en ataque y el disparo más peligroso fue del Alavés gracias a un error de Casemiro cuando controlaba el balón en su propia área. El Alavés estaba haciendo un gran trabajo defensivo, y el Madrid no era lo suficientemente intenso ni creativo para justificar una ventaja de gol. El resultado hasta el momento fue un merecido y aburrido 0-0.
La segunda parte empezó muy prometedora para el Real Madrid, primero con un buen lanzamiento de falta de Alaba que casi entra, y luego, Vinicius creó una buena jugada de ataque por la banda izquierda. El equipo parecía un poco más activo e intenso en comparación con la primera mitad, y si seguían así, pensé que probablemente anotarían eventualmente.

The first half wasn't very exciting, there weren't high-quality attacking plays, and the most dangerous shot was from Alaves thanks to a mistake from Casemiro while he was controlling the ball in his own area. Alaves was doing a great defensive job, and Madrid wasn't intense nor creative enough to justify a goal advantage. The result so far was a deserved and boring 0-0.
The second half started very promisingly for Real Madrid, first it was a good free-kick shot by Alaba that almost went in, and then, Vinicius created a good attacking approach over the left side. The team seemed a bit more active and intense compared to the first half, and if they kept up with it, I thought they would probably score eventually.
Real Madrid started to overwhelm Alaves' defense, Vinicius had a terrific individual play that almost ended in a goal, and Casemiro almost scored after receiving a cross into the area but the ball went too high. The team was very different compared to the first half, but Alaves still managed to resist and keep the result 0-0.
It wasn't until around the 62-minute mark when Asensio received the ball from Benzema and executed his signature shot from outside the area that sent the ball straight inside the net. I call it his "signature" shot because he has scored the same goal several times during this season. The last one was just 2 weeks ago.
Si la primera parte se puede calificar de muy aburrida, la segunda tuvo mucho entretenimiento gracias a las jugadas de ataque del Real Madrid. El merecido segundo gol se produjo sobre el minuto 80, y fue una bonita combinación de los 3 atacantes, Benzema, Asensio y Vinicius. La jugada arrancó por su banda derecha con Valverde dejando el balón en manos de Benzema, que luego con una hábil jugada pasa el balón a Asensio, se lo devuelve a Benzema y luego asiste a Vinicius con un preciso pase al punto de penalti. Fue una combinación increíble, y esto dejó al equipo con una merecida ventaja de 2 goles, y con el partido prácticamente ya decidido.
Lo que vino después de esto fueron muchas sustituciones, y fue sorprendente ver a Ancelotti haciendo 5 sustituciones en un partido, pero las hizo en este, y luego los minutos finales transcurrieron sin mucho que mencionar a excepción de un penalti cometido a Rodrygo y rematado con gol de Benzema, que le dio al Real Madrid un resultado final muy positivo.
Después de perder contra el PSG creo que esta reacción del Real Madrid no pudo ser mejor, me refiero especialmente a su actuación en la segunda mitad. El equipo dominaba por completo y los atacantes eran bastante peligrosos. Este partido también demuestra lo importante que es tener al menos un jugador capaz de marcar goles desde fuera del área, estoy seguro que el golazo de Asensio desbloqueó algo en la psicología de los jugadores y les dio confianza para buscar más goles.
Con esta victoria, el Real Madrid sigue afianzando su primera plaza una semana más.
¿Qué sigue?
La semana que viene tengo pensado ver el partido entre el Atlético de Madrid y el Manchester United en la Champions League así como el partido de la Europa League entre el Barcelona y el Napoli que seguramente será muy intenso. Después de esto, también planeo ver al menos 1 partido de liga el fin de semana.

If the first half could be described as very boring, the second one had a lot of entertainment thanks to Real Madrid's attacking plays. The well-deserved second goal happened around the 80-minute mark, and it was a beautiful combination of the 3 attacking players, Benzema, Asensio and Vinicius. The play started on their right side with Valverde leaving the ball with Benzema, who then makes a skilled move to pass the ball to Asensio, returns it to Benzema and then he assists Vinicius with a precise pass to the penalty spot. It was an amazing combination, and this left the team with a deserved 2 goal advantage, and with the match pretty much already decided.
What came after this was a lot of substitutions, it was surprising to see Ancelotti doing 5 substitutions on a match, but he did them in this one, and then the final minutes went through with not much to mention with the exception of a penalty committed to Rodrygo and ending with a goal by Benzema, which gave Real Madrid a very positive final result.
After losing against PSG I think this reaction from Real Madrid couldn't have been better, I am particularly referring to their performance in the second half. The team was completely dominating, and the attacking players were quite dangerous. This match also proves how important it is to have at least one player capable of scoring goals from outside the area, I am sure Asensio's amazing goal unlocked something in the psychology of the players and gave them the confidence to look for more goals.
With this victory, Real Madrid continues to secure their first place one more week.
What's next?
Next week I plan to watch the match between Atletico Madrid and Manchester United in the Champions League as well as the Europa League match between Barcelona and Napoli which will be surely very intense. After this, I also plan to watch a least 1 league match on the weekend.
