El Real Madrid y el Inter se jugaban sólo la primera posición del grupo. El Real Madrid tenía la ventaja porque tenía 2 puntos más que el Inter, y la única manera de que el Inter le quitara la primera posición al Real Madrid era ganándole en este partido. Un empate o una victoria del Real Madrid no cambiaría las posiciones lo que significa que el Real Madrid seguiría en la primera posición y el Inter en la segunda.
Las posiciones son importantes porque, en la siguiente ronda, los equipos en la primera posición van a jugar contra los equipos en la segunda posición, por lo que lograr la primera posición normalmente significa que su rival en la siguiente ronda será un equipo más débil. Esto no es siempre así, sino una posibilidad muy probable. Por ello, tanto el Inter como el Real Madrid debían dar lo mejor de sí mismos en este partido aunque ambos ya estén clasificados para la siguiente ronda, además, también hay una recompensa económica por cada partido ganado por un equipo.
En el Real Madrid, la única novedad en la alineación fue Jovic debido a la lesión de Benzema en el partido anterior. Jovic puede ser considerado como el delantero secundario del equipo, pero no ha jugado tanto esta temporada hasta ahora. Benzema ha estado jugando prácticamente todos los minutos hasta ahora, por lo que ver de repente a Jovic ofreciendo un buen rendimiento en el partido anterior fue sin duda una feliz sorpresa para este equipo.
El Inter, por su parte, viene teniendo un buen rendimiento en su liga doméstica y actualmente se encuentra en la segunda posición por detrás del Milan. En sus últimos partidos han conseguido muy buenos resultados, y sin duda pudieron haber sido capaces de arrebatarle la primera posición al Real Madrid.
¿Cómo fue el partido?
El Inter era el equipo obligado a ganar este partido si quería lograr la primera posición, y quizás por ello tomó la iniciativa de buscar jugadas de ataque.
Una de las primeras cosas que noté, es lo débil físicamente que se encuentra actualmente Rodrygo. En realidad no es la primera vez que lo noto, pero para un jugador con tanto potencial, tiene la tendencia a terminar en el suelo. Sin embargo, es bastante joven, así que tal vez sólo necesita más tiempo para desarrollar adecuadamente sus músculos y su fuerza.
El partido estaba un poco atascado, con el Inter incapaz de causar mucho peligro a pesar de que estaba tomando la iniciativa, y de repente, alrededor de la marca de 16 minutos, el Real Madrid fue capaz de marcar en su primer intento de gol importante.
Real Madrid and Inter were playing only for the first position of the group. Real Madrid had the advantage because they had 2 points more than Inter, and the only way for Inter to take the first position from Real Madrid was to beat them in this match. A tie or a Real Madrid victory wouldn't change the positions which means Real Madrid would remain in the first position and Inter in the second one.
The positions are important because, in the next round, the teams in the first position are going to play against the teams in the second position, so achieving the first position usually means your rival in the next round will be a weaker team. This isn't always the case but only a very likely possibility. This is why both Inter and Real Madrid needed to give their best in this match even though both of them are already qualified for the next round, besides, there is also an economic reward for each match won by a team.
In Real Madrid, the only new player in the lineup was Jovic due to Benzema's injury in the previous match. Jovic can be considered as the secondary striker of the team, but he hasn't played that much this season until now. Benzema has been playing pretty much all of the minutes so far, so suddenly seeing Jovic providing good performance in the previous match was surely a happy surprise for this team.
Inter, on the other hand, has been enjoying a good performance in their domestic league and is currently in the second position behind Milan. They have been achieving very good results in their past matches, and they were certainly capable of taking the first position away from Real Madrid.
How was the match?
Inter was the team forced to win this match if they wanted to achieve the first position, and maybe this is the reason why they took the initiative in looking for attacking plays.
One of the first things I noticed, is how physically weak Rodrygo currently is. It is actually not the first time I notice this, but for a player with so much potential, he has the tendency to end up in the ground. He is quite young though, so maybe he just needs more time to properly develop his muscles and strength.
The match was a bit stuck with Inter unable to cause much danger despite the fact they were taking the initiative, and suddenly, around the 16-minute mark, Real Madrid was able to score in their first important goal attempt.
Hasta ese momento, el Inter tenía más posesión de balón y más disparos en total, pero el Real Madrid fue mucho más efectivo gracias a la perfecta puntería de Kroos a la hora de disparar.
Tras el gol, el partido siguió más o menos igual. El Inter siguió con su iniciativa buscando constantemente jugadas de ataque, y el Real Madrid siguió resistiendo y neutralizando cualquier posible peligro del Inter.
Irónicamente, una de las mejores oportunidades de gol fue también del Real Madrid, y no fue resultado de una jugada táctica, sino más bien gracias a puros movimientos técnicos. Carvajal, el lateral derecho del Real Madrid, recibió en el lado izquierdo del campo, lo que es de por sí una desorganización táctica porque su posición es en el lado derecho del campo, sin embargo, controló rápidamente el balón y pudo filtrar un pase a Jovic pero cuando estaba disparando el balón no había suficiente ángulo y el tiro fue fuera. Fue una gran jugada pero la definición final pudo ser mejor por parte de Jovic.
Mientras tanto, el Inter seguía teniendo la mayor parte de la posesión del balón y la mayoría de los disparos pero sin causar mucho peligro al Real Madrid.
Hacia el final de la primera parte, el Real Madrid pudo crear una serie de pases sorprendentes cerca del área del Inter, y Rodrygo, tras recibir un pase de Kroos, pudo hacer un buen disparo pero, por desgracia para él, el balón dio en el poste y fue fuera de la red. El Real Madrid continuó realizando aproximaciones peligrosas en esos minutos finales, y Rodrygo volvió a intentar otro disparo pero volvió a ir fuera.
Una cosa que he notado de Rodrygo es que cuando regatea dentro del área y en lugar de girar hacia el centro, sigue corriendo desde el lado derecho, suele intentar un disparo con poco o ningún ángulo y estos ataques siempre terminan con el Real Madrid teniendo una oportunidad perdida. Creo que esto es algo que Rodrygo tiene que mejorar y averiguar cómo hacer algo más productivo que un simple disparo sin ángulo.
En la segunda parte, nada cambió al principio. La única jugada de peligro fue del Real Madrid cuando tras una jugada individual de Vinicius, Casemiro pudo disparar pero el tiro fue directamente al centro y el portero lo paró fácilmente.
Up to that point, Inter had more ball possession and more shots in total, but Real Madrid was much more effective thanks to Kroos' perfect aim when shooting.
After the goal, the match remained pretty much the same. Inter continued with their initiative in constantly looking for attacking plays, and Real Madrid continued to resist and neutralize any possible danger from Inter.
Ironically, one of the best goal opportunities was also from Real Madrid, and it didn't result from a tactical play, but rather thanks to pure technical moves. Carvajal, Real Madrid's right back, received on the left side of the pitch, which is by itself tactical disorganization because his position is on the right side of the pitch, however, he quickly controlled the ball and was able to filter a pass to Jovic but when he was shooting the ball there wasn't enough angle and the shot went out. It was a great play but the final definition could have been better by Jovic.
In the meantime, Inter continued to have the majority of the ball possession and the majority of shots but without causing much danger to Real Madrid.
Towards the end of the first half, Real Madrid was able to create a series of amazing passes near Inter's area, and Rodrygo, after receiving a pass from Kroos, was able to make a good shot but unfortunately for him, the ball hit the post and went outside the net. Real Madrid continued to make dangerous approaches in those final minutes, and Rodrygo once again attempted another shot but it went outside again.
One thing I have noticed about Rodrygo is that when he dribbles inside the area, and instead of turning towards the center, he continues to run from the right side, he usually attempts a shot with little to no angle and these attacks always end with Real Madrid having a missed chance. I believe this is something Rodrygo needs to fix and figure out how to do something more productive than a simple shot with no angle.
In the second half, nothing changed at the beginning. The only dangerous play was from Real Madrid when after an individual move from Vinicius, Casemiro was able to shoot but the shot went directly to the middle and the goalkeeper easily stopped it.
Con 1 jugador menos, ahora era casi imposible que el Inter marcara 2 goles. El Real Madrid no sólo estaba teniendo una sólida actuación en la defensa, sino que ahora también tenía una ventaja de 1 gol y 1 jugador.
Cuando esto sucedió, y dado el hecho de que el Real Madrid parecía tener todo bajo control, empecé a pensar que era un buen momento para que Ancelotti empezara a hacer algunas sustituciones.
El Real Madrid tiene un montón de jugadores con talento en el banquillo, y utilizarlos es seguramente sabio. La primera sustitución fue en el minuto 70, cuando Camavinga entró en el campo y Casemiro salió. También esperaba ver a Hazard jugando algunos minutos en este partido. Sin embargo, las otras sustituciones se produjeron 7 minutos después cuando Asensio, Valverde y Mariano entraron en el campo, y Jovic, Kroos y Rodrygo salieron. No hubo señales de Hazard hasta el minuto 80, cuando entró al campo y Vinicius salió.
Nada más entrar al campo, Asensio marcó uno de los mejores goles de su carrera. Recibió el balón, en el borde del área en la parte derecha del campo, y con facilidad, realiza un disparo que fue directo a la esquina superior, fue completamente imparable para el portero. La puntería de Asensio a la hora de disparar es una de sus mejores cualidades y tiros como este son la prueba definitiva.
Ese gol destrozó por completo las posibilidades del Inter de lograr la primera posición del grupo, y los minutos restantes del partido no tuvieron mucha intensidad, tanto que el árbitro dio por finalizado el partido exactamente a los 90 minutos en lugar de dar algunos minutos de prórroga como suele ocurrir.
¿Qué viene ahora?
Mañana habrá más partidos con más equipos luchando por su vida. El mejor, como ya he mencionado, será el partido entre el Bayern de Múnich y el Barcelona y puede que vea algunos minutos de este partido si puedo.
Los grandes triunfadores de hoy han sido el Real Madrid pero sobre todo, el Atlético de Madrid que ha conseguido derrotar al Oporto y lograr la segunda posición de su grupo que le permite participar en la siguiente ronda. El Atlético de Madrid se encontraba en la última posición antes de estos últimos partidos pero su victoria y la derrota del Milan ante el Liverpool le colocan en la segunda posición. Este fin de semana habrá un partido intenso en LaLiga entre el Real Madrid y el Atlético de Madrid y seguramente pienso darle un vistazo.

With 1 player less, it was now almost impossible for Inter to score 2 goals. Real Madrid was not only having a solid performance in the defense, but now they also had a 1 goal and 1 player advantage.
When this happened, and given the fact Real Madrid seemed to have everything under control, I started to think it was a good time for Ancelotti to start doing some substitutions.
Real Madrid has a lot of talented players on the bench, and using them is surely wise. The first substitution was on the 70-minute mark when Camavinga went inside the pitch and Casemiro went outside. I was also hoping to see Hazard playing some minutes in this match. However, the other substitutions happened 7 minutes later when Asensio, Valverde, and Mariano went inside the pitch, and Jovic, Kroos, and Rodrygo went outside. There were no signs of Hazard until the 80-minute mark when he entered the pitch and Vinicius went outside.
Immediately after entering the pitch, Asensio scored one of the best goals of his career. He received the ball, at the border of the area on the right side of the pitch, and with ease, he makes a shot that went straight to the top bin, it was completely unstoppable for the goalkeeper. Asensio's aim when shooting is one of his best qualities and shots like this one are the ultimate proof.
That goal completely destroyed Inter's chances of achieving the first position of the group, and the remaining minutes of the match didn't have much intensity, so much so that the referee ended the match exactly at the 90-minute mark instead of giving some minutes of extra time as it usually happens.
What's next?
Tomorrow there are going to be more matches with more teams fighting for their life. The best one, as mentioned before, will be the match between Bayern Munich and Barcelona and I might watch some minutes of this match if I am able to.
The big winners of today were Real Madrid but especially, Atletico Madrid who managed to defeat Porto and achieve the second position in their group which allows them to participate in the next round. Atletico Madrid was in the last position before these final matches but their victory and Milan's defeat against Liverpool put them in the second position. This weekend there will be an intense match in LaLiga between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid and I surely plan to give it a watch.

El Real Madrid pasa de primero, un buen juego colectivo, impidió que el Inter se impusiera en el arranque. Un muy buen juego de Militao que sigue en un nivel muy alto. Ambos goles de alta factura y un vinicius escurridizo.

Poco se habla de lo que Ancelotti ha logrado hasta ahora. Si recordamos, fue el que logró dar la orejona que tanto deseaba el club merengue antes de que viniera la racha de Zidane. Y ahora, en ésta nueva etapa, sigue tomando buenas decisiones. Quizás no sea el más carismático ni enérgico durante los juegos, pero vaya que está logrando llevar éste barco a buen puerto. Así es, Ancelotti siempre ha demostrado ser bastante competente como entrenador.
Luego de ver este encuentro queda claro que ambos equipos han mejorado su nivel está campaña. Y aunque no son favoritos a levantar la orejona, pueden dar bastante pelea por la misma.
En cuanto al juego fue bastante entretenido, lastima por Barella que se le volaron los tapones jaja, fue una entrada cuerpo a cuerpo, fuerte pero limpia, quizás los encontronazos que se dió contra la valla le hicieron reaccionar así.
Ahora a esperar los cruces 😎
Seguramente esa fue la razón para la reacción de Barella, y también pienso que estos equipos pueden plantarle cara a cualquiera en esta competición.
