My Actifit RC: June 9th 23 - Alive in Naples's Sightseeing stage 10 - IAAC #370

A dear greeting to all lovers of physical activities that populate the mythical community of Actifit.

This Friday begins with variability. The sky is little cloudy and the temperatures are quite bearable even if the humidity begins to bother.

As I have often mentioned to get to Naples there are two subway lines both arrive at Via Toledo and Piazza Cavour only that line 1 continues towards the Vomero while line 2 continues towards Fuorigrotta and arrives at Pozzuoli. If you want to get to the center of Naples it is better to take the line 2 which is less crowded and the seats in the train carriages are more numerous. I take the 2 because there is the signal on the smartphone line 1 is very underground.

Getting off at the Piazza Cavour stop I notice that the weather has kept its variability without threatening rain even today. Today we are visiting the church of San Carlo all'Arena which would be the one that hosted the congregation of Brother Giuseppe Casalanzio.

We said that this priest was a revolutionary character who introduced the popular school in the Kingdom and therefore opposed by the noble classes and envied by his peers in the church.

This led him to spend a large part of his life defending himself from the accusations of the church and having to change the church that housed him.

So far we have always talked about the positive aspects of the clergy but in the period of its maximum domination, the spiritual power, has often been fierce with its best men. However, near the church of San Carlo in the Arena, the order managed to set up a public school.

Also this church building, like the church of Santa Maria del Caravaggio, has an elliptical shape and is very well lit and airy.

The external structure like the internal one needs a renovation and it is a shame to see that a lot of monuments in Naples are in a state of great degradation with the frescoes and plasters that are often lost with the passage of time. Unfortunately, the earthquake of 1980 Irpinia has dealt a hard blow to the church. And to think that the city suffers from huge debts resulting from the senseless administration of public money of reconstruction after an earthquake.

The pearl of the church is this exceptional statue of the crucified Christ from the church of the Holy Spirit. During a fire, she fell to the ground, but the damage to the floor was greater. The work is of indisputable excellent workmanship and has a very expressive and emotional face.

When I return home I pass by the road that precedes via dei Tribunali. In front of me stands the suggestion for the first stop on a trip to Naples. Short between these lines.
