Our adventure continues!

The round tower of Ardmore and derelict cathedral was our choice for a visit today
We'll worth a look if you are in Ireland's south coast.

Built in the 5th century by a monk visiting the region. St. Declan. The now drelict chapel and grave yard is well kept and well worth a visit.

The view of Ardmore bay is incredible, and there is a cliff walk nearby too, taking in a circular walk bringing you back to the town.

We walked the short distance from the town centre to this hilltop site. I can see why this place was chosen as the view is stunning.

The round towers were built for a point of refuge by the monks. These are now very rare in Ireland. The one is now one of the last remaining towers in Ireland.

I could only find this information plaque on the site but it gives an insight into the history of this region.

I love this type of old ruin - always so many stories from history that make you wonder. Looks wonderful too.

I love old history like this too. It really takes you back in time. We had a lovely walk in some beautiful scenery.

Yes I think the graveyard dates back to the fifth century. So quite old.
