Real Madrid rewrite history as they win for the 14th time
Well well well, the long wait is finally over and we now have a winner, I would say Liverpool's luck finally runs out, and once again Real Madrid hasn’t stop been the dramatic club for this just-finished season. I will still say it again, it’s unfair that we just have one trophy to decide who is better and there is a quote “Success is not measured by the amount of money you make or have “ I would like to say “ the best football team should not be determined by just one trophy but how far your team have come and how great they have played”
One thing I would say is Liverpool should be proud of themselves, Jurgen Klopp himself should look in the mirror this night and say to himself you did great regardless of anything which the same thing should also go for all other Liverpool players. Looking at what he has achieved at Liverpool, the way he has made them one of the best teams in Europe again, restoring their glory, bringing in average players, and turning them into world-class is just amazing.
Every Real Madrid matches right from the round of 16 has been maybe they will process or not, they have been doubted even in the final game. The ball possession might be 50-50 but we saw how Liverpool created more chances than they did. The Spanish team had zero shots on target in the first half compared to Liverpool's 7 shots, the reds even have more on target than Real Madrid. The only thing we saw Real Madrid do in the first half was to pass the ball around and this one time Benzema scored an offside goal which I didn’t think that the VAR was needed to decide if it was a goal or not but the VAR where called into action and after 2 minutes of check it was still an offside.
Both team players were better today but kudos to Thibaut Courtois as he proved he is better than his opponent Alisson Becker. The Belgium goal goalkeepers had 9 saves in the match while Alisson had 0 save which means the only time the Brazilian was called into action was Vinicius goal which was the only shot both on target or off-target that Real Madrid played for 90mins and that one time he was badly needed Alisson Becker was nowhere to be found. Would I blame him for that No which made me remember a saying in my country “Dey no dey catch goal” which means in English ( any ball destined to be at the back of the net will surely be there no matter how good the keeper is) and there is nothing more he could have done because it was a pass from Valverde which exposed Liverpool defense, the person that could have stopped the goal from happening was Trent but he couldn’t.
Real Madrid now has 14 Champion leagues to their name. Carlos Ancelotti becomes the first manager to win the Champions league 4 times after the win against Liverpool. Toni Kroos has now won the Champions League 5 times with two different clubs while Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema, Dani Carvajal, Isco, Marcelo, Luka Modric, Casemiro, and Nacho have all equal Ronaldo records. It wasn’t just a win but a record-making night for the Real Madrid players which alone is much more motivation for them to win the Cup.
Real Madrid did 11 touches before it was back of Alisson's net, kudos again to Vinicius has we have seen him play more mature football this season and he is just 21 same respect goes to Camavinga, Rodrygo, Valverde, and also Mendy. I won’t be surprised if Ancelotti resigns.
Real Madrid is not only the king of Europe but also the team to have won the Uefa Champions League final in France. They also became the first team win against two different club in the champions league final. Twice against Liverpool and twice against Atletico Madrid
The season has now come to an end finally and it’s time to take a break a break for the player not for me and we will be seeing a lot of signing once the transfer window is fully open. Don’t forget to always come and check your ogbonge sports analyst page for more sports updates.
